Deadric Shrine discussion

Lets discuss Deadric Shrines. IMO they had some of the coolest quests, and I would really enjoy it if they made a return. What about you? Would you like em' to return as well?

Seeing as Daedric shrines have been in every TES game I've played (MW & OB, I'm not sure about the older ones), I'm pretty sure we'll see them again, yes.

Definitely gonna return. Hopefully we get a Dagon shrine this time, I bet he is still pretty pissed about the whole Oblivion thing.

Would be nice to have the shrines look better. In Oblivion most of them consisted of one statue of the daedric prince and a few benches and a lectern just dropped in a random place in the open. If people feared them so much it would make more sense if they were inside somewhere. Like that shrine to Sheogorath in one of the Vivec sewers in Morrowind.

Yeah, they should definitely be harder to find. Most of the Oblivion shrines I just stumbled across when walking through the woods. Hopefully in Skyrim, they'll be much more out of the way and require some searching for.

Didn't we see some new concept art of a daedric shrine? There was that azura poster and then there was that live demonstration of one of their concept artists detailing the shrine of nocturna...

Maybe i'm wrong...my memory is a bit foggy.

I definitely hope we see all 16 (17?) Daedric shrine quests. Only Daggerfall included them all, but Oblivion had as many as it could, seeing as it wouldn't make sense to do a favor for Mehrunes Dagon, given the circumstances.

The Shrines were probably my favorite quests and given that they were in OB and MW I am sure they will be in Skyrim. Think we'll see a shrine for Jyggalag (sp?)

They will make a return, without a doubt. Hopefully they will be a little less out in the open though. Also, I was certain that Oblivion had them all, you just could not do a quest for Mehrunes Dagon.

I think what you're referring to was actually the statue of Mara.

I hope we see all 18 of them (with Jyggalag and Sheogorath now are entirely separate entity, so there's a total of 18 Daedric Princes, right?). Some shrines could be easier to find, while others being much obscured.

Also, I recall that there was a thread on this forum section where OP presented an interesting idea for a Daedric Shrine quest (for Mephala, I think) which involves the player's character being transported into some pocket realms where he/she had to battle every single named NPCs that he/she murdered (as in the victims being unprovoked/innocent) from the start of the game, up to the point before activating the quest line, with the reward(s) for the less murderous characters being much smaller, and much larger if you're playing the more homicidal ones (on the other hand, the quest giver/Daedric Prince would simply not respond to your summoning if your character's hands are clean, so to speak).

That is a fantastic idea. And no. It's 17 now. There were 16 princes, but since Sheogorath and Jyggy have became separate it makes it 17.

  • Azura
  • Boethia
  • Clavicus Vile
  • Hermaus Mora
  • Hircine
  • Malacath
  • Mehrunes Dagon
  • Mephala
  • Meridia
  • Molag Bal
  • Namira
  • Nocturnal
  • Peryte
  • Sanguine
  • Sheogorath
  • Vaermina
  • And now Jyggalag.

I wonder if Jyggy has got himself a new "realm" now. Considering the new Sheogorath rules of the Shivering Isles (which used to be Jyggy's realm) Can Daedric Princes just create realms willy nilly? I know Dagon gave a pocket realm to Mankar Camoran but that would still be technically part of the deadlands.

Edit* Had a bit of a brain mess up on the number of princes.

Wasn't there some concept art for Azura's shrine? It was absolutely stunning... don't remember where I saw it.

It was either in the "behind the scenes" video or the "concept art" video where they talked to the artists. (these videos are on the game informer Skyrim hub)

they may be on a lesser magnitude than we see in Oblivion, as Nords don't worship Deadra so they may be as sparce. hopefully the deadric princes and their lesser servants will be far more menacing then any TES game to date. in that I can't simply summon a Dremora lord and not expect an axe in my face if I summoned him for the hell of it, or that Deadric Princes wont speaks to me unless greater feats are preformed and not just bringing trinkets.

Well, technically the only province we've been to that actively accepted daedra worship didn't even have quests for all the princes (morrowind) whereas Daggerfall and Oblivion did.(excluding dagon for Oblivion)

The Imperials don't worship Daedra either, but they were all over Cyrodiil. It's not like the Daedric shrines were Imperial sanctioned worship sites. Daedra are made out to be the "bad gods," so they're worshiped in secrecy (for the most part).

I don't know if they're actually going to count Jyggalag as a separate Prince now or not, we'll have to see what books about Daedra say in Skyrim. :unsure2:

Ah, thank you for the correction :)

Speaking of Jyggalag, I honestly still am not quite sure... just how does his sphere not overlapping with that of Peryite's?

im not sure about the whole jyggalag / sheogorath quests either , one hand they arent just a schizophranic daedra, but on the other hand what would the new sheogorath shrine look like as anyone could become him by doing the shivering isles quests.. unless Haskill usurped the new sheogorath.. yay for a Haskill shrine :celebration:

even tough i love sheogorath. i don't think we should see a shrine for him. because as manye people remenber sheogorath didn't really existed, it was jiggalag with a curse, so yea.. who would be sheogorath this time, by what i remenber, our character could be the prince of madness but certainly we we'rent daedric princes, meaning that 200 years in the future we would be dead and the shivering isles realm would slowly lose its existance on oblivion...*sniff*
