On Deadric WorshipArtifacts

Post » Sat May 31, 2014 5:36 am

This may have been discussed already but the one thing I dislike about Skyrim is how the various "god stuff" is handled. First off, why are there no Aedric artifacts? If they are the benevolent beings of the world that people will openly worship then why do they not send you powerful equipment? Sure Meridia is pretty benevolent as far as Daedra go but it seems like if you want some good stuff you have to basically side with these evil demon lords and commit evil acts like murder (trust me I have no problem doing that I'm just sayin' although any of my "good" characters never do Daedric quests). It just seems like the Aedra take a back seat in the game. Secondly, how is it that you are allowed to worship multiple Daedra? Molag Bol obviously doesn't like it that Logrolf worships Boethia and performs her rites at his shrine. You should maybe only get to side with one Daedra and if you do forsake them and go with another, they might randomly send Draemora or cultists to attack you. Finally, for those you do worship, them having more demands of you would be nice. Think about it, you are a Nightingale but you have no further obligations to Nocturnal. I would love it if you randomly hear her voice commanding you to help Karliah and Brynjolf rid Nightingale Hall of vampires or bandits. Then she might reward you with random shadow skill increases or something. I would also love to be randomly visited by Mora cultists telling me that my lord Hermaeus Mora demands more blood. Since he is my favorite of the Daedra I would have no problem doing that...

And yes I see I misspelled Daedric wrong in the subject.

Didnt notice it until you mentioned.

IDK much about these gods stuff, but maybe the daedra just need more souls than the divines, thats why they're messing around with nirn all the time. and to be fair we've had some aedric artifact, such as: staff of magnus, auriel's bow and shield in skyrim; the crusader gear in oblivion; stendar's hammer(?) in MW.

Huh. Never thought of those as Adreic artifacts.

First, the Aedra are dead.

Second, they're not necessarily benevolent. Bretons think Shor is the Devil, Alduin is the Nordic aspect of the Dragon Time God, and so on.

Third, the Daedra suffer from game mechanics.

Because the aedra are very weak after giving most of their essence to create the world. The daedra can intefere more directly.

Kind of literally. It's the reason they can't act directly.

I'm not against worshiping multiple Daedra, but I think there should be consequence for doing so, like having them send out, as you said, cultists and/or Dremora to destroy you
