Dealing with error messages

Post » Sat Nov 24, 2012 9:00 pm

I am trying to tweak a mod (Morrowind Crafting) using MWedit. (I got morrowind via steam and I don't have the construction set). However, the second I tweak anything at all the mod starts giving a bunch of errors when I test it. Things like:

Object refence "sharn gramuz gob" missing in master file (on start up). It also takes issue with Falena Hlaren and Gluronk Gra-shulen. Upon going outside I get about 5-6 errors such as:

(It dumps me to windows and says:)
object reference mc_log_scrap missing in master file.
Current file Morrowind Crafting 2-1.esp
Cell Ascadian Isles Region
Continue running executable?

I can say yes and it will eventually let me get back to the game and everything runs fine. Sharn seems to be okay and everything else seems to be working fine.

The thing that seems really screwy is that "mc_log_scrap" is only used by Morrowind Crafting why would that even be in the master file in the first place?

I was wondering: Is there some way I can either fix the underlying problem (and where would be a good place to start)? or can I just do something to tell the game not to give me these error messages and continue on as if everything is fine (as it seems to be)?

I wouldn't recommend to use MWEdit to edit a mod instead you'll need this http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/42196 patch. :smile:

I can use the CS with my steam version? Awesome! Best news I've had all day! Thank you so much. This should be a bit easier now.

And thanks for the welcome and the fishy stick.

Okay so it seems like I have the CS up and running now. But I check the masters (Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon) and the Morrowind Crafting 2-1.esp and set it as active and I get a ton of object reference missing in master file messages (in the CS). Far more than before. Am I going to have to start with a fresh install? This is a brand new Morrowind Crafting 2-1.esp so I figure that should be okay. Any idea what might be causing this or a way to deal with it?

Sorry. I've no idea why. Perhaps someone else can give you an answer.

Its OK for a lot of error messages to pop up when you are loading Tribunal and Bloodmoon together in CS. But they should be about dialog not about object references missing. Add this line
AllowYesToAll=1
to [General] section of morrowind.ini to be able to skip them all.
