Dear Bethesda (for us console players)

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 1:22 am

Firstly thank you for your mind blowing game that pushes the boundaries of RPG's. Now we have that out the way, can you please, please make sure that us console gamers reap the benefits, hard work and genius of the PC modding community; namely:

1. All additional settlement build options (the vanilla game you will have to admit is a little bare)

2. Weapons display wall-racks - able to accurately display your modified weapons

3. Manikins (as a settlement build option) that you are able to dress up with armour

4. All graphic improvement mods

5. Full text dialogue mod

6. Too many awesome mods to mention, but you get the point - please make sure at least the 'Top 30 PC mods' become available for PS4 and Xbox One gamers.

Kind regards,

Your Loyal Console Fans

They've already said that mods will be available on at least Xbox One. They're not gonna do a "top 30" thing. Any mod will be available as long as it meets certain as-yet-unknown requirements.

I'm not entirely sure about that....if you read the mod discussion boards (in fairness I should have posted this there), there is a lot of uncertainty around which mods are tranferable to console. It wont be a simple '"if the mod ia availble PC it will be available on console" - it not as simple as that unfort.

Currently I'd just be interested in modding Danse out of his armor so that he isn't always clunking around. But the mannequins for armor display would be great, especially since I think that existed in Skyrim. :) I have a PS4.

Just get a PC and learn how to mod your own game, you sound really REALLY lazy. You even pretty much admitted it by saying "...make sure that us console gamers reap the benefits, hard work and genius of the PC modding community..."

Never in my life have I heard someone say something so very greedy and selfish.

Display racks are good.

Some graphical mods won't come because they will trash the console.

And the full text mod is unnecessary, just because it's really pointless... B)

As I said, "as-yet-unknown requirements" says it all.

Wow, that was pretty uncalled for. Installing mods is pretty damn easy these days, no need to make it sound elitist.

Bethesda said they were working on getting mods for consoles, right now the official modding tools aren't even released yet. I imagine that most mods will make it to consoles. Things that require script extenders and other external programs probably won't be ported over if i had to guess. I imagine that mods that include nudity or child murder won't be allowed. Although i think that what the op is wanting will make it over no problem

It is certain that no advlt mods or copyright infringement mods will be available for the consoles. So mods like CBBE or the Iron Man mod won't be available.

Chill Kraag, it was meant as a compliment to the brilliance of the PC modding community, which I assume by your scorn at my post, you are a member of.

'Getting a PC' and modding myself really isnt really the best solution, neither for myself or the Fallout community as a whole...

For a group of people whom share a mutual love of RPG gaming and Bethesda games, this sure is a prickly pear of a chat forum. Some of the 'chat' on here is really quite aggressive. I think a lot of people need to chill out and realize that we all have something in common; and the sheer amount of hours you and I (and the community as a whole) put into this and other great games, is something only we can understand about each other (I can tell you my girlfriend doesnt).

Curious. What mods have you created? I can only find one with your handle, "Reduced Cigarette Glow."

And how is the OP's desire for access to mods any different from the PC platform non-contributors that install but don't create them? Would you categorize them as "greedy and selfish" too, or are they somehow superior simply because they've chosen the same platform as you?

Offering decent customisation options in their games is not something bethesda does. Compare the HUD options for Dishonored, then compare for TES.

Consoles wont be seeing major graphical overhauls like NMC's or Ojobueno type stuff. Especially the high end texture packs as they'd bring the consoles to there knees....

I think consoles won't be getting much support really with regards to mods. Simple mods yeah, but honestly I don't see big time modders caring if there mods work on console or not and only making sure the pc mods are functioning as well as probably not caring to develop for 3 different systems no matter how close they are related to x86 specs.

Love this, love this.

Aren't the PC players who've never created their own mods ALSO mooching the hard work and "genius" of the modding community?

As you can probably tell, I've got no time for the PC Master Race arguments.

The technical architectures of the new gen of consoles are more similar to PCs than ever before. And they're more like each other, unlike the unique hardware of the PS3. Making mods cross-platform certainly won't be easy, but I'd bet that Bethesda planned for it when coding the game. They're well aware of how popular mods are for their games. And they know that console gamers might get a little jealous, since not all of us want to join the Master Race, but would like to (gratefully) play around with what other people create.

The truth is that we don't know WHAT they have planned for console mods, or even mods in general. We have to wait it out.

Until then, have fun with what you've got in front of you, and be cool to each other.

Bethesda has already announced that consoles will be getting mods. Modding on a console involves jumping through a lot more hoops than modding on a PC though. You guys definitely won't be getting every mod that we'll be getting in the PC community. As others have already mentioned, nudity mods and mods that involve copyright infringement (like Danse Lightyear, Iron Man, etc.) definitely won't be going to console. There will probably be a lot of complications with certain graphical mods too just because of the relative inflexibility of consoles versus PC's. That being said, I'm sure plenty of mods will still be making it to consoles. There will just be a much more stringent approval process of getting them there, versus the PC requirement of basically just making it and posting it on Nexus.

Never? Wow. What world are you living in?

I'm a PC gamer to the core, but I keep hoping that one day the gaming community as a whole can move beyond this stupid PC vs. console, PC Master Race debate. We're all gamers enjoying the same game. A console gamer is no less of a gamer than a PC gamer is. I'll make an occasional PC Master Race joke...but I really don't mean anything by it. A few friendly jabs at one another is one thing...actually meaning it is another.

Babby's first troll

On topic, I doubt you'll see any graphics improvement mods for console. What I'm hoping for are options to remove the headbob and alter the FOV. Also mods that fix the shabby implementation of settlement building.

Until someone takes it the wrong way. TBPH, even if your only joking about it, it's best to leave those sorts of comments alone. The pc community already has a bad enough reputation without adding more fuel to the fire than what we already have on it.

I'll be perfectly honest (again) and say that I would not object one bit if the admins at Beth decided to censor the term PC Master Race and all it's variations people might want to use. It serves no purpose other than create more animosity between console players and pc players. We are all here for the same purpose, we all enjoy Beth games and want to talk about them with others who like them as well.

When I say I'll occasionally use it as a joke, I mean only in situations where it is blatantly obvious that I'm joking. Mostly with friends who are console gamers. I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of friendly rivalry. The Playstation vs. Xbox debate has the same type of friendly rivalry. It's when people take it seriously that it's actually a problem.
