So , dear Bethesda, u make an addon...

Post » Sat Aug 17, 2013 9:04 am

which is all about having own home in game, yet u still do not give a single 'care' into fixing ur engine even a little, so placing items can no longer be pain?:o

i havent see any new posts about it on front page so here is mine. Im just so disappointed, yet another evening spent on loading sreens to try to conserve my stuff to be where it should, to just find out you made me lose my time on purpose, and probably just had a lot of fun while putting HF on shelves.

Ur developers have seriously low kind of humor. And now i have to pick all my crap out of walls with console, thanks again!

Wow. Very rarely do I hear complaints about the placing system.

There will be no more DLC and very little chance for a patch.

Really?

This is my only real complaint about the game, I mean sure there is a lot that should be done differently/better, but the placement issue is one that really affects my enjoyment of the game. Especially since it did work ok in the beginning but they made it worse after one of the patches and now everything you pick up rotates upside down. I was really disappointed they didn't fix this.

*Drops items.*
*leaves cell*
*re enters cell*
*Picks up item*
*presses item slowly against wall/table/floor/wardrobe/stuff*
*places item*
*leaves cell*
*re enters cell*
*items are in the correct place*

/simples.
Items are easy to move and place.

It isn't a glitch, just how the physics work. It could use improvements though.

Except things rotate upside down now, and also the HF homes will reset everything if you are gone from them too long knocking everything you placed around.

Which is why you should be visiting your home before the 10 day reset.

Its definitely a glitch caused by one of the patches. Items used to rotate upright slightly so you can place them, now they all rotate upside down so it is impossible to place things. At least this is what it does on the xbox for me.

Compare that to Fallout 3's easy "pick it up, place it where you want, and you're done", it makes the necessity of having to leave the cell multiple times quite ridiculous.

Which is ridiculous that you have to do that. Why do your homes reset at all?

Really? hmmmm maybe I won't get it then, as my patches are at 1.7 or 1.8 and I'd rather not have the glitches that go with 1.9. I DO still place items, yes it IS a big pain, but I'd be royally tic'd if everything reset.

I want to say it changed around patch 1.4 or so. I think it was an attempt to counter the thing with placing a bucket on an NPCs head.

Not quite. If the home resets on you, your items should stay as they were if you left the cell and immediately reentered. Doing that always solves my problems.

The rotating upside down glitch occurred for me long before patch 1.9. It was only on my very first playthrough where the placement worked properly (with dropping items, leaving cell and re-entering of course).

I've always had thne initial habit of removing everything from each and every table, shelf and anything laying around. Then placing various items where I want. With the HF homes resetting, I return to find all of my placed items in the floor and the house's default items to be in their place.

Im not sure we are talking about the same things. I'm not talking about the drop, exit cell, re-enter then place. That works fine, but if you are gone from your house for more then ten days (only happened to me when I did the Dragonborn DLC as I frequent my HF home a lot), all the random default items will reset. So if you place a different item where a default item is then it will get knocked over or on the ground.

Looking for a fix for this, I read where the Telekinesis spell allows one to zoom in and rotate the item. I never knew that.

Any truth to that or is it a bunk statement?

I mean, I assume the zoom part is when you actually bring the item towards you, but I didn't think you could rotate the object.

Isn't the fact that the house "resets" is to make sure things planted in the garden/green house grow and regrow once harvested? Or am I missing something on how these things work?
