Dear Bethesda...

Post » Wed Sep 30, 2009 7:56 am

Simple: If you could add one thing in TES V, what would it be?
And I don't mean "fighting" or "fast travel". No, try to be creative and original!

My addition:

Dear Bethesda, could you add a bookshelf/closet that automaticaly shows your books in order when you add them?

Even better: Make a system that lets you place the books (and other stuff) without everything flipping around, falling down etc. Interior decorating was impossible in Oblivion, because of the messy physics. In MW it was much easier, so there should be found a way you have physics, but can still control objects and put them exactly where you want them to be and aligned as you want them.

Making a sort of minigame for it would suit me fine.
to add books within the shelves in a 2d grid mode :)

They need to replace that loose grip you have on objects with something like in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwO533cANKg where you can rotate it all. Then add another option to freeze it into place...

I second the ability to decorate easily.

The one thing I want... a better character builder/maker/customization system. Eve online and APB both have nice ones for inspiration.

Edit: to the above. I've never played that, is it similar to Forge 2.0 in reach?

Yes, that would be a good way to do it. The freezing would prevent that something I have just painfully put in the right place falls down just because I took something out of the shelves or put something else besides it. I′m really hoping they will do something like this.

I'd also strongly approve of a method similar to how it's treated in Amnesia.

Dear Bethesda: Can you please bring back questions about my character's history which will affect their initial equipment/stats?

NPCs that have a meaningfull personality. That's all I want. Bethesda should really join with BioWare to make a game. I mean, look at Mass Effect's characters and story compared to Oblivion's. But then, look at Oblivion's game-world and possibilities compared to Mass Effect's. If they could take the best bits from both developers I think we'd have a new best game of all time.

cant they do this: when you make a character you get some choises...

1: you can customize your character the way you want.

2: you get to answer questions about you past characters and it takes your answers and turns it into a character.

3: you get to load your character from oblivion :).

1. You can customize your character. Not very well admittedly.

2. Like in Morrowind and Fallout 3?

3. It worked well in Mass Effect 2 but I don't know if it'd suit The Elder Scrolls.

Won't happen. We don't how the skill system will be different, plus you have to take into consideration the mods on you TES IV character.

Don't forget that Oblivion also had tilted display cases, so your stuff always slip downward. STUPID!!

I'd make the melee fight system be cross breed between Daggerfall and Oblivion.
You move your mouse to make the swings. Holding fire and moving your mouse back and forward means thrusting etc.
Blocking would work like that too, you could move the shield or weapon to collide with the attack. Thrusting your mouse with the right mouse button down would perform shield bash.

That'd be awesome.

Dear Bethesda, please let us be able to robes and clothing over our armor, like in Morrowind. And actually use wolf pelts to put over our armor.

What would be cool is if you could invite NPCs to your house. If you bring the Count to your unfurnished shack with nothing to eat but bread and rat meat then they'll think you can't handle their quest yet but if you have a fancy house full of artifacts from your past adventures and books on their favorite subject they will be more impressed. Make a reason to do all that book sorting and house decorating stuff.

Indeed,
let's hope the barren colds of Skyrim and the environment in general has effect on the player.
Like highlander, foresters and such. Battle the elements.
Having to cloth and prepare yourself for the survival outside the cities.

And while you're out on a quest from that Count, he'll hire some thieves because he was so impressed by some of those artifacts. So when you come back, it's suddenly an unfurnished shack with nothing to eat but bread and rat meat :P

I would also love to see thieves braking into my house. It is also UN-realistic that you are carrying a couple thousand drakes and you never get attacked or mugged? Maybe even smashed to pieces by a Nordic barbarian. :brokencomputer:
