Dear Bethesda, thank you for Dogmeat

Lol @ having ethical issues about beating a dog in a game where you eat people and kill children

The only complaint I have about Dogmeat is he is constantly in my way when I get into tight quarters. I am always tripping over him or he is blocking doors. The other companions do this as well but not as much as Dogmeat does.

My German Shepard here in real life knows to stay to my right and behind me a bit. She never ever gets in front of me and only ranges to my sides. In front is a bad spot when fire arms are involved and she has been trained to stay out of that area unless I tell her its OK. If we go out into a wooded area around here fire arms are always involved due to predators that think Humans would make a nice snack.

It's called "Training". And no, she won't just randomly run off to attack, until she is told to. Which is much preferable.

It`s a good thing you have extremely well trained dog, but I can tell you Dogmeat is better than average dog out there.

Considering 99.99% of the other dogs I meet in the fallout world, wanna eat me for lunch, yeah, I would have to agree with ya there. :D

Add me to the "I love Dogmeat" faction. I am always amazed at how realistic he is in comparison to a real dog. (We lost our real-life pet 2 days before Christmas 2014, after having him for 17 years.) I really enjoy having Dogmeat as a virtual canine companion. :)

I hate that thing. And I hate that, that thing can not be killed.

I can not kill it.

Other followers including strong cant kill it.

Raiders can not kill it.

Death claws can not kill it...

...

Granted it's like that for all of the companions...

Which hints that I hate all companions.

And I do. I want them all dead.

But I know why Bethesda did this to me ( Us )

It is due to the fact that they could not be bothered with actually scripting out real AI packages...

So if they where not demi gods ( The companions ) it would show ;As well they would die within the first encounter.

But then if they made the AI really good, people would say that companions is cheat mode...

So....

I give up.

But I hate that dog...

Reminds me of a old dog I had...

A well behaved and well trained dog will do this. Dogmeat unfortunately, is not such an animal.

That said, I still love and use him constantly, despite the fact that he's literally always in my way.

Kinda makes me wish someone would remake the old Kick Dogmeat mod I had for Fallout 3. :whistling:

As much as I like Dogmeat, he stays at Sanctuary now after successfully managing to kill me multiple times on a previous playthrough.

Means I'm not willing to trust him anymore on my current playthrough.

Nowhere near as effective at killing me as Barbus was..... Barbus took great joy in pushing me off cliffs....... And there I was, trying to HELP him.... Idiot dog.

No love for the Pariah dog huh lol. I would like to see him back. Imagine -- you're adventuring through the wasteland, and come across a massive pile of dead super-mutants and enclave, one dog in the middle. He won't stop following you, and for some reason your enemies weapons blow up in their hands lol

Probably did it the same reason your angry at the world and need to vent here....because they can. We won't hold it against you though.

I typically travel with Dogmeat long enough to send him to Sanctuary where he stays for the duration of the game aside from the Reunions quest.

I love Dogmeat. Sometimes I use him to distract enemies while I flank them. The only thing that bugs me about him is he is always opening all the doors he can. I have a method I when I play and I won't open doors unless I'm ready to check that particular area out. If I have closed doors....I haven't been in that area yet but here he is, opening up all the doors then he looks at me like..."hehheh...see what I did" grinning at me, all proud! Gotta love him though.

I remember one time as I was crossing the ladder bridge over the wreck of the USS Riptide, Dogmeat pushed me off on to the boat... Fighting off the raiders that action aggro'd was annoying. But otherwise, I like this beast.

Yeah, after training. You're not going to get a dog you found doing that straight away.
