Dear Bethesda: You owe me new underwear.

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:11 pm

Since day 1, this game scares the crap out of me.

The first time that storm rolled through: ruined a pair.

Investigating a store and watching ghouls drop in, literally: ruined a pair.

Investigating a rooftop and having a Deathclaw pop up when your only strong weapon is a two-barreled shotgun: ruined another pair and felt my heart stop.

So, who do I send my bill to in order to get new underwear? :D

Here I though Fallout 3 scared the crap out of me. This game just ramped up that feeling big time.

Great job! I love the way this game makes me feel and having a blast with it, even if keep soiling myself. :D

Oh, and here's the kicker: read the screen tip which says the further south we go, the harder the game gets. I think tomorrow, I'll head east instead of south. Running into that Deathclaw pretty much told me I'm not ready to go to the glowing sea yet.

:P

When I saw Mirlurk Queen coming out the water I freaked out before it proceed to destroy me. Also Rad Scorpions are creepier now that they come from underground.

This game has scared me more than F3 and FNV combined, and I've only been playing approximately 0.2% of the hours I've put into the other two.

So many [censored] scripted spawns, random encounters, and feral ghouls...

I would suggest adding more fiber to your overall diet and limiting your fluid intake to 1-2 hours before a gaming session. If that doesn't help, you may have an inflammatory bowel condition brought about by exposure to the Forced Evolutionary Virus.

Pretty sure my heart skipped a beat the first time I came across a group of mole rats and I admit I was owned but I did get my revenge. Another thing that spooked me the first few times I came upon them are those monkey that clap with the yellow eyes yeah I wasn't ready for that especially since I was hunting for the bear I had seen and I was sneaking through a destroyed cabin.

Searching MedTech Building with the beeping from distress signal going in the middle of a radiation storm while feral ghouls are pouring themselves out of the ceiling like death soup can be pretty nerve racking.

Yeah... I've intentionally avoided certain quests to this point because they are too far out of the way and I'm scared to move around....

I was exploring a random area outside and saw a deathclaw head rise from behind a car. That gave me the chills and made me start back-pedaling as it looked at me. THEN a second deathclaw head emerged. One deathclaw is terrifying enough in Fallout 4. Two is a situation where I was screaming, "Nope!" and running. I actually raced to the Thicket Quarry and hurled myself off the cliff to escape from them. Luckily, it still hadn't drained yet. :ahhh:

Definitey recommend doing all you can (and there is a lot) in the north, but primarily the northwest, portion of the map before moving on. I made sure I was semi-solid (Level 15) before going into the Lexington and Cambridge area of the map.

Near Walden Pond there is a small section with some white spots..... found out these were mirelurk eggs as I jumped down. Suddenly two large mirelurks exploded from the group as a group of cute little babies decided to swarm me...... not cool.

then there was the mole rat nest where they just suddenly exploded from the ground.

Then near the sunshine co-op, had a few rad roaches explode from a pile of trash.

These are a few of my favorite things. Besides the ghouls that just come out of nowhere or come to life when they are just lying on the floor. So now, when I come into a room, and I see ghouls just lying on the floor. 2 blasts to the head, don't care if they are dead or not, I am not falling for it again.

The best part about this game is that my live with girlfriend is a gamer. She is also a massive wimp. It's so funny watching her jump or get scared. Can't tell you how many times she practically throws the controller at my and says "you do it". She was quite sheltered before she met me and didn't watch many horror movies or play new video games so it's great.

She is big and bad with her sniper when she can hide in the distance but at the first sign of trouble she freaks out haha. When he swan attacked I thought she would die lol.

So yeah, I enjoy the horror as its funny to watch reactions.

There's a certain old shack with a Radscorpion surprise. Also last night, I was coming up on a little raider camp, when suddenly a mole rat came running at me strapped with explosives. Barely had time to register what it was before it went up in a HUGE explosion!

Lol, my Wasteland hero =)

There's been a few moments so far, mainly Ghouls. The way they come out of nowhere is awesome. But overall the game atmosphere is just not quite what it was in FO3, which gave me a few good scares.

Pickman Gallery is kind of creepy. Mannequins too, even though I know better I still feel like any moment now some of them will reveal they are synths and attack me..

But Molerats always scare the [censored] out of me, more so than Deathclaws. At least I can shoot a Deathclaw, but not these damn little rabbits. Radraoches are similar. I swear they are taking venegance for me laughing at them in earlier games.

I`ve had so many scary and wtf moments in this game, it`s totally crazy.

About an hour ago I literally jumped off my chair in fright. I visited Abernathy Farm (near Concord) and was talking to the settlers outside. It was a lovely sunny day, with blue sky and all was peaceful around the farm. A Brahmin was munching in their enclosed field and a cat was wandering around in the yard. Pretty chill place I thought to myself. The next moment there was an almighty BANG from my TV speakers and chunks of flaming debris were raining down all over the yard. The poor Brahmin went down like it was poleaxed as the main cockpit part of the exploding Vertibird landed right on top of it. Yep, the crazy Vertibird Navigation AI had struck again...

I worked out that the pilot must have crashed into the large pylon right beside the farm before exploding into pieces all over us in the yard.

The explosion was loud I near [censored] myself.

Beware of the BOS Vertibirds in this game...

First time I was clearing out a set of ruins, some Feral Ghouls proceeded to make me almost crap myself. (Gotta watch every single word you say or Pluto will slap you with a nice big ban rulebreaking or not). But anyways had one crawl out from behind a set of file cabinets and then had a few actually crawl in through windows. Was clearing a room when I suddenly went from Hidden to Caution and heard Ferals. Whipped around and there they were crawling through the windows.

One word: Radsorpions. If you haven't met multiples yet, then you have something to look forward to.

I'm not going to read all this thread because I don't want to be spoilered out but, yes, this game has a much greater shock value than FO3 or FONV.

It is one of the things I love about the game.

Super Mutants down the one street. More Super Mutants down this other street. Let me try this other one - oh great a pack of feral ghouls! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

Um, has anyone seen where my spleen went?
