but it MUST be said.
I've been playing Elder Scrolls ever since Morrowwind. Morrowind was a delight to play in and of itself. For its time, the graphics and interactions were sublime. The plotline was amazing, engrossing and every day I could not wait to get stuck into it. It felt much more free-roaming than it's successors, and its successors certainly made improvements, but at the time, I felt no improvements, aside from mounted roaming, could've been made.
When Oblivion hit down, it felt perfect. It had a sense of grandeur, epicness, and urgency to it - the plotline was so urgent, so driven, so enthralling and epic that you forgot all about sidequests and you just drove as hard as you could to save not Cyrodil, but all of Tamriel - perhaps all of Nirn. You felt that a threat from a different dimension - demonic freaks of nature, were threatening the very fabric this beautiful province, and you saw its demonic corruption spread before your eyes - in the skies, on the ground - it added a sense of urgency.
Skyrim has melded both the urgency of Oblivion and the freedom of Morrowind in terms of plotlines, but it's done more than that. The graphics are better, interactions are better - everything is just - better.
Which leads me to my true point of this thread. Elder Scrolls is a virtual goldmine - literally, when it comes to it's potential I believe. As a businessman in real life, I can see how Elder Scrolls has literally limitless plot devices for an MMORPG, and it has a tried and true map , world and universe for people to play in. If this were applied to an MMORPG, allowing people to interact with eachother in the world of Tamriel, then I, personally, would gladly pay to play it, venturing and questing forth to conquer great dragons, demons and the like with fellow adventurers.
There is a number of times when i've thought to myself, 'Damn, i wish i had an archer with me, or a mage' - being an up-close combat soldier that I am in Skyrim. Although there is certainly an appeal of just being able to enjoy your own world without interruptions from the common internet troll or harasser who seeks pleasure out of tormenting others, something very common in MMORPG's , Tamriel is a large enough to avoid that.
Players of Elder Scrolls - let me ask you, by comparison, do you not think of World of Warcraft - a game engine which is 8 years old - has had its day? Do you not think that by comparison to the likes of Skyrim, World of Warcraft is an ancient old relic which is in good need of a proper send off and burial? Personally, I do. And I think Elder Scrolls, as an MMORPG, is just the right game engine to do that. It already has a more modern engine, it has a much more sophisticated story and plots, and it is just so rich, so enthralling. If WoW is a childish old man, then Elder Scrolls is a dark norse god, waiting to unleash itself to the world.
Elder Scrolls; this message is to you - you seek to profit, expand, and become the grandest, most respected, most loved game developer in the world. If you want to achieve this, then I already have the next title for your game;
Elder Scrolls: Tamriel (MMORPG)
Unite Cyrodil, Morrowind, Skyrim and create TAMRIEL.
