Dear Crytek - An Open Letter From Your Fans

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 7:27 am

Dear Crytek,

I will try to be constructive here where possible and see through my anger with your amateur attitude towards us - your paying customers.

It's 8 weeks now, and still the game has a lot of problems. Be it the Grain Glitch, The Network Coding (Lag), Version Mismatch, Host Migrations, Being Forced To Play Skyline / Terminal all day, Hit Detection Problems, Random Energy Loss etc etc. 8 weeks is a very long time, and I believe that we should have had results from you by now.

As a paying customer I believe you should listen to us and communicate with us. I don't expect you to give us dates when the 'patch' will be ready - I don't believe you are even working on one at all - do you see what shambolic customer care does to your fanbase??. All we want is detailed information on ALL the ITEMS that are being fixed in the 'patch' - JUST TALK TO US FOR F**KS SAKE.

Crytek - I am sorry, but until you come out of hiding, and give us the respect that we deserve you will not be getting another dime out of me for the Downloadable Content.

This is to all the Crysis 2 owners out there - Let's stick together on this one :

Do not buy the Downloadable Content until they get this game fixed

I fear the only way we will have a voice here is to refuse to buy the DLC, when they don't get their new pay cheques maybe they will be humble and actually fix these issues.

Here's hoping,

Crytek Community.

I'd love an answer, whether we get one I'm not so sure.

It's a constructive letter, which hopefully they can comment on.

Even better, when you play Crysis 2 for the next two days before the release, send players a message in the recent Playlist to not purchase the DLC until the game is fixed. And then tell them to pass the message to other players. I am pretty sure we can reach a lot of players. If they want more money, they will have to work for it.

Well your title and letter is easy to read and the points are clear to see so... I really hope they answer it, BTW seeing how your using punctuation and all I'm going to use it too!
Even an answer that gives us clues towards the patch they are currently developing this month and what is in and that will keep most of us from selling Crysis 2 and it will also redeem the name as well, imagine me and you being able to play a game of Crysis 2 like in the Retaliation DLC trailer on Xbox 360!

Yes, if it could play anything like in the trailer for the DLC - then it would be the best FPS out there.

The problem is Crytek seem reluctant to work on the Network Coding issues.

Over to you Crytek.......

It's simple, if they refuse to communicate I (and probably many more) will refuse to give Crytek more money by purchasing the DLC.

If they don't want to communicate or don't want to work on the issues mentioned above that's their prerogative.

But it only fuels my anger into not buying the DLC and not buying Crysis 3 or any product with the word 'Crytek' associated to it.

It works 2 ways.

This is a great idea...the amount of people registered on these forums pales in comparison to those that aren't.

Spread the work folks...don't let this turn into another 'Alien vs Predator 2010' fiasco...(charging for DLC and then bailing out on support a week later)

He hasn't said what the patch will address, again poor communication.

There is no guarantee the patch will actually address the Network Coding.

Very worrying.

Which makes many of us sad, all we have is hope and Cry-Adams mysterious and blank answer, hope its not some of that humor Germans are well known for?

Yea I made the decision NOT to buy the DLC the moment DLC was even rumored on the forums. **** you Crytek you worthless **** "developer". You guys rock so much with your awesome catalog and great reputation... Wait that isn't Crytek. You hacks only have 2 shooters on the market and piss poor customer service. Crytek, you truly have no idea how to maintain a game community.

About the net code... Can't Crytek make a new net code in the form of DLC and have the new net code override the old? That could fix most of the multiplayer connection problems, right? I am just guessing here, so correct me if I am wrong.

they could always update it cause it would be easier than replacing it and more cost effective?
its a shame though as this is the only game i have ever played that has such bad netcode...

I'm sure they could matey, but will they - I highly doubt it otherwise they would have surely communicated this with us.

I'm afraid it looks like we might have a situation where we never hear from them again after the DLC, I won't be falling for that one.

We get a Patch or No DLC + Crysis 3.

I logged on this forum for the first time since I set up my account to pretty much post this ("this" being what the OP beat me to). I LOVED Far Cry and Crysis. I love the fact that they are willing to continue development on the TimeSplitters series (provided there's demand, of course). I loved the mapmaking tools they allowed us to use. I am a Crytek fan. I bought this game on release day and through all of the aggravations I've encountered I did not flood the forums because I figured Crytek would work hard to resolve them soon enough.

Well, I'm still waiting. If they simply tell me that the hit detection or lag (or whatever it is that ruins many matches for me) is being addressed, I'll continue to be patient. I understand these issues can be troublesome to fix, but at least let me know you're working on it. So if this upcoming patch doesn't fix those issues and Crytek continues to shut me/us out, I'm not going to be playing this game or buying the DLC for quite some time. It's just too aggravating. They could be patched a week after, but I wouldn't know because I won't bother checking.

I have this fear that after the DLC, we won't be hearing a peep or a fart from Crytek. I really think that due to the poor customer communication after the DLC we won't hear a word off them.

I mean there are people asking basic questions since day 1 around 8 weeks ago.

Not good enough.

God damn.. Read people! Cry-Adam already said there working on a patch. NO it wont be ready before the dlc but yes they are working on it. Instead of biching and moaning try looking! Soon enough we will have it. I'm sure they just want to make sure they get it right this time so we don't have to go through this all again.

I think EA has a lot to do with this poor customer service. It's the samething that happened to MOH. I think we need to start complaining on there website. I'm going there now.
