Dear God lol

Alright I was walking with a caravan and a prospector (5 well armed men with decent armor) and I saw those assassins coming and I turned and sprinted for it, when I looked back for a second I saw several heads and various other body parts flying, I fast traveled to the Mojave Outpost and am now halfway back to Novac to get Boone, how soon can I expect my friends?

EDIT:
Also feel free to discuss any strategies for these Bastards here.

My first encounter with these assassains was at lvl 4 I think at the bottom of the big hill at the first NCR base.

I go to Nipton, and see what they did. Being the good guy I am I killed them for their crimes. XD IRONY.

So as I was walking to kill the ant I see like six guys running at me.

When I realize who they are I think "HA! I've found them wandering the wastes time to hand out some more justice."

"The Caesar want's your head." (Or something like that)

"Lul wat?"

After trying to kill them for an hour I had to load back like an hour. XD

Damn you're only realizing my fears, do you think me and Boone could take them? I have 5.56 armor piercing with a service rifle.

I'm really counting on it, are there any places I could fast travel to as well that would give them problems?

I'm level 5, they got me again before I could get Boone but now I got him, I have lightweight metal armor he has metal armor, we'll see what happens.
In the mean time why don't we make this an official assassin strategy thread?

If you cant beat em try to hide out by an NCR outpost with a good amount of troops, make sure to help though by shooting them in the legs to stun em, it stops em from moving and shooting temporarily on like 50% of the shots or shoot the guns out of there hands

Depending on which you encounter, 9mm SMGs, Machetes, 10mm SMGs, Rippers, 12.7mm Pistols, Super Sledges, Thermic Lances, Shishkebabs and Hunting Rifles. Armor goes up to Vexillarius (Vulpes'), with all others before that (Veteran, Recruit and Prime).

The best ones are classed as Praetorians, Primes and Vexillarius, so their armor is very good and they use top end equipment. Recruits and Veterans you should meet if your level is low, in which case they're improved versions of the Legionnaires you've already seen.

Darn, I didn't get a chance to look at the guns because I died so quick but well that account I'm sure describes all we need to know about them, the question is, are there any ways to minimize friendly losses while dealing with these monsters?

The early ones you can counter by getting close and shooting their melee weapons while they're after a friendly. They'll switch to their 9mms or 10mms which aren't too effective. But once they start carrying 12.7mms, there's very little you can do, as it's very hard to get decent VATS accuracy on pistols. In general, once you advance a bit into the game, you can expect a single Legionary to be able to outmatch 5 or so NCR Troopers.

@Yanks4champs - it's not a quest. If your reputation with Caesar's Legion is very low, they dispatch Legionary Assassins after you. This is much like the NCR Rangers that are sent to kill you if you're hated by them, except the Rangers are pansies in comparison.

By the way, with decent NCR fame, the Rangers give you a radio that lets you call them in for help. This could work against Assassins (I've never used mine).

Bad (or good) luck, then.

When it first happens, you're told there's a mark on your head or something of the sort. That never happened to you?

I assume you haven't done anything actually considered bad enough. For example I killed Vulpes.

Interesting if that's the case, but I'm pretty sure it's based on (in)fame alone.

My first run in was doing the Newton quest. I had Boone so the plan was to save them, no mercy killings for us. So I kill the guards and free the hostages and am trucking back to Milo (who covered me) to finish the quest. I'm walking to Milo and 4 baddies pop and Milo is dead. Those assassins are fierce. Of course I reloaded, I didn't do a quest and finish it to have the damn quest giver die from a bullet meant for me.

Im at level 30, and have done just about everything possible that I can do to the Legion. Which includes killing everyone at the fort, including Caesar, and I have yet to see these assassins. Oh, and obviously Im villified.
