Dear Obsidian, please stop freaking me out. Thanks.

First, Vault 34 freaked me out, mainly due to my IRL Zombie Phobia, and the new Feral sound effects dont help :stare:

Now I wander into Camp Forlorn Hopes graveyard (which I've never gone down there before) to search for graves to dig up, and instead I come to find I have voices of the dead whispering at me. Thanks for making my heart race Obsidian.....again. :cryvaultboy:

It is one of the hardest vaults in the game. JES once tweeted on it:

"vault 34 is a pros-only vault. fyi."

He wasn't wrong. It was hard/fun the 2nd time I did it, really awesome difficulty!

This and the Wood Chucks commercial are my favorites

@Miaximus- Oh don't I know it.

-My first playthrough- "Oh cool, I found a Vault. This wont be so bad." -steps into the area- "Pfffft Geckos? I have the animal friend perk" -gets to the vault door and cant see due to the dark- -hears roars- "OH GOD OH GOD WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO"

After conquering Vault 34, I was not so afraid of Ferals

Oh, it is, but not expecting that makes you a little uneasy xD

hardcoe @ very hard. LVL 10. Vault 34, 400 rads, 50% HP, 200+ H20, 200+ FOOD 100+ SLEEP, no more radaway, purified water, or food. This is right before walking into the overseer (see: feral ghoul reaver) + two sentry guns, three vault security glowing ones.

Posted this in another thread. I LOVE vault 34!

I have been OK with the creepy stuff like the vaults but the place that give me a heart stopping moment was the H&H Tools Factory. I was warned that there were traps in there and was very carefully and slowly checking the place out. I came to a door and was so busy checking for a trap on the other side that I completely missed a frag mine. The concentration of the search, the loudness of the bang with the speakers turned up, the scene of my body hitting the floor minus a leg - well it was almost clean pants time (almost). :(

Since Raul's quest is bugged for me(Won't talk after I talk to a ranger) I'm waiting to take Boone and hardly any items so I can raid the armory for massive amounts of unnecercerry caps and ornaments.

Any tips from anyone apart from "Bring Stimpacks? " I may play this on the toilet since I have been freaked out by the screechy ghouls too many times(Will NOT be able to powerfist them)

Vault 34 aww... magnificent!! I hope they add more of this kind of places in dlcs!

When i entered the caves i had already high levels of radiation and in the vault i was getting 1rad/s constantly.
Spent all my radaways/rad x in there, reached its reactor and barely got out.

Got a question though.
The constant radiation i got - was it because of the critical radiation poisoning i had or by default the whole place is radioactive (even innocent looking corridors?).

Plenty of ammo, food, and water
Rad-X
Space Suit
Rad away
Re-breather helps, but not necessary.

Also, I'm not really sure about this but frag mines might help immensely warding off ghouls that try to run around corners.

Feature of the Vault ;)

Having a virtual time limit like that rules. Makes the place 10 times better. And considering radiation is not really threatening in the game i really hope they will put more places like that.

Haha, this made me feel better about myself not being the only one with a real life zombie phobia.

Btw there's a nice new series on tv its called "The walking dead" (if you would be interested).

Hee hee! Yeah, nice little creepy touches... the whole digging in graves thing is pretty creepy to begin with. At least they don't have the nasty, juicy sound effect of the ol' Gore Bags. ew!

I just redid Vault 34 with Veronica and my own Ballistic Fist. A good way to go. :goodjob:

Well, can't say you didn't deserve it...

First of all, I hate that you can't do Raul's quest if you've already spoken to the Ranger at Novac. Absolute crap, considering almost everybody is going to talk to him way before they make it up to Black Mountain.

Second, if you're heading into Vault 34, here's what you need to have a not so tough time in the Rad Vault...
1) Rad-away (lots)
2) Rad-X (lots)
3) Some sort of rad reducing armor/apparel.
Spoiler
a) You can find a radiation suit near Clark Field, which is near Novac
b ) You can find a space suit in the basemant area of the REPCONN test site
c) There is an advanced rad suit in a supply cave in the Searchlight area or so
d) Power armor has rad-reducing capabilities

3) Space for loot
4) Stimpaks and aid stuff
5) Weaponry for killing masses of glowing feral ghouls

I also found Vault 34 to be a rather scary experience. I wondered afterwards why I found this particular place so tense (other popular "scary" places, like Dunwich in Fallout 3 did nothing for me). And I came to the realization that it must be the blanket of radiation in the area that just sets me on the edge. I can't remember if it ever goes over 1 rad per sec, but even so, it just gives all the tension in the world to the area and makes it feel much more hostile.

I felt similarily (though less so) about creeping through Searchlight.

I started a new game yesterday, and started to walk away from Goodsprings, when I came upon a refridgerator. When I went to look inside it, there was a skeleton stuffed inside it and a very creepy, other-worldly music came on. Made me very uncomfortable.

Yeah, I ended up having to backtrack a couple of saves after trying that Vault the first time - still waiting until I'm leveled a bit more before attacking that place again.

The ghouls can creep me out in the game - especially if I'm playing late at night with my headphones and the lights off. Something about hearing them lurking around in the passages, and then that scuffling sound they make as they run up to you, and you turn around and they're trying to rip your face off...
