Funny you mention that I actually have.

My Orc uses conjuration (necromancy perks) and a 2H Sword. Pretty fun stuff always having a zombie around.

Yup, I gave him 1h, Block, Heavy Armor, Conjuration (I only use reanimate dead spells), Illusion (fear is the only spell I use), and destruction (cold based spells).

I took most of my level ups in health, 3 to 1 ratio with magicka. The character is very fun to play, you made the right choice.

If your basing it off WoW then use frost spells and runes as well.

Also wear the most evil looking armor like Daedric or Ebony.

Meh, I based mine off D&D lore of Death Knights.

Haha I have a death knight and a spellsword, and the death knight is the most fun I've had in the game so far. Two-handed weapons, ebony armor, conjuration (zombies,) drain spells, and fear. It's so much fun.

I will be doing the same thing on my next playthrough. D&D is a much better base for classes than WoW.

That said you might want to add some poison usage to the mix for your weapons as well, I am not very familiar with the spells available yet but anything that will weaken the enemy is also in line with the death Knight.

I made a Death Knight character myself. 2h, heavy armor, conjuration for undead and soul trapping weapons, and wearing legenday daedric armor (smith & enchant). Not done any other magic as yey, as im RP'ing it as a "fall from grace" where my nice guy knight got turned to the dark side by the daedre and is now working through the magic skills required for true power. :D

Drain spells? There's drain spells in Skyrim?

Weird I totally just made a character for this archetype...

My plan is to summon two dremora lords, and have a companion who uses two handed weapons, while I swing my mighty hammer down on peoples faces.

I can just imagine the outright pwnage of 4 on one when all of us are just power attacking with our 2 handers rofl

But overall...all in all....the Death Knight is a Melee character. Correct? Not so much of a magic user. Yes?

Yes, you want most of your level ups to go to health. But if you're going for a D&D type Death Knight you need a few spells to complete the build, specifically you will need Fear (illusion), Reanimate Corpse (Conjuration), Blizzard (Destruction).

Not to mention, you probably want to choose Breton as a starting race since Death Knights always have a natural resistance to magic.

I was thinking of this - what stopped me so far is that the original D&D Deathknight from the 80's was an undead Lich; and the only undead in Skyrim that I can see is a Vampire, which does not quite fit.

I still might do so, but I have not found a good way to represent the Lich part.

Wikipedia has a good summary of all the D&D editions as well as the various spinoffs,

You want a death knight sword? The asian influences aside the Ebony Blade is PERFECT for this... Its a vampiric black katana that feeds off of treachery... :)

BEST thing is. you dont even have to use destruction magic! At least 2 dragon shouts are frost based ;)

Frost breath = straight dps

Ice Form+ paralyze your pitiful foes

One of my characters (named Darkblade Valix) started like a Deathknight, but is becoming a Daedric Knight

by Daedric Knight I mean he covets all the Daedric Artifacts, and will do anything to get them. He trains in whatever skills are required to make them better. He uses Conjuration and Destruction Magic (Sanguine's Rose sort of negates the need for Conj magic atm though)

This might be a good build for you to use...

VERY hard to kill, and if you are a breton with the atronach stone, 95% magic resistance.... dragon fights have now become showers

EDIT: take the point out of haggling and max out recovery in resto for fast zombie summoning mana regen
2nd edit: Apparently, either to bugs or intention (have not been able to determine) Ebony blade benefits from 1 handed perks NOT 2 handed... odd bug

The trouble i've had is that my character has outpaced my zombies. Also, my conjuration skill is useless when I'm not doing a dungeon, meaning I only end up using it about half the time, and never against dragons, which is slightly depressing.
