Death

How would you like to die? that sounds weird. say a mudcrab just killed you. would you like it as in Fallout where is goes slow motion/fisheye camera looking at your body? (i dont remember how you died in oblivion, but im guessing it was the same way) or something new? something less annoying maybe?

I want my character to explode with bright light, and see a double...no, triple rainbow burst his corpse while 80's rock music plays in the background.

Actually no, I don't really care, anything is fine with me. I didn't mind how Fallout 3 did it, can't remember how Oblivion did it.

I want blood to be splattered and my guy sounding like he is dying in slow motion and cool music playing in the background.

In OB there is no slo-mo. You just fall over and hear the sound of your weapon unequipping, then a little death tune.

I'd like death to mean that your character is no more and you have to start over from scratch with character creation and everything.

Death should be quick, drop like a ton of bricks. But the game should linger a bit after you drop, until you push something to bring up the menu to load your previous save. Just gives you a "wow I died quick" and gives you time to digest what just happened.

Lets see if you still feel that way after playing with the new combat system. Prepare to die on 11-11-11...many times.

If I die I want to see my character kneeling in front of Sithis, praying for mercy.

Makes me wonder if we'll see anything like mercy/execution kills. As an enemy realizes he's in for certain death he drops to his knees. You choose to behead him (or some other sweet finishing move) or let him live.

I actually want NPC's to be able to perform finishers on my character if they kill me. But for when I'm facing mudcrabs as you say, I want a more realistic death animation, the likes of which NPC's are going to do. Or that's how I understand it.

Fixed that for you, removed the unnecessary parts. :P

It's be pretty cool if immediately after the killing blow is dealt it shows the killing blow again from a more close up, cinematic angle in glorious slo mo and you watch as your character slowly falls to the ground with a thud.

Then it asks you if you want to load a previous save.

Depends on how you die, and what kills you.

Sometimes you drop like a ton of bricks, sometimes it's slow and painful, and sometimes you're blown off your feet and dead before you hit the ground.

It'd be nice if it was like the NPCs while still focusing on you. Slow-Mo and a black fade-out would be a nice simplistic touch.

I hope you actually can stay in first person when you get killed. Just stumble over, blackness. Leaves a much stronger and more visceral feel on the player - "you've just failed and now you're dead". Don't need any overdramatic ragdoll sequences or pansy death music.

I second this. I "felt" it when I fell off a building playing Mirror's Edge. Could be slightly silly with the addition of my idea though.

Player gets beheaded by a finisher in first person. Head falls to the ground and rolls in time to see his body fall...*blackness* I assume that's how it might work since your brain is still happening for a little bit. I don't know if you would actually "see" it though

You can easily do this with any TES game, just have to resist the urge to simply reload.

how about different kinds of death?

Get eaten by dragon = instant black screen with bone crunching audio.

Decapitated = First Person View of the world as a rolling head would see it, color saturation decreases, fading to black.

Normal Death by weapon = look at bloody hands, fall to knees, faceplant + black screen and a thud.

Magic dealth = Depends on magic used: Screen of flames, view freezes over, etc.

Killed by animals = fall backwards looking at the sky, fade to white, listening to animal eat you.
