Death Warrant!

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 3:49 pm

I was wondering if there are any alternative ways of removing a bounty so high that i have earned a death warrant. (about 17000 Septims)
Except for joining the thieves guild, i don't know about any other possible ways to do this, so please help?

PS: I don't know if this is relevant, but i got the bounty from stealing the Sword Of White Woe in a guard tower in Balmora, and then attacking the guard.
My character is now somewhere southeast of Gnaar Mok waiting for someone to answer :)

Thanks!

This quest can also be a handy way of clearing up a bounty you've accrued by other means. You still can't get rid of a death sentence, but any bounty up to 5000 can be cleared by doing this quest, provided you don't go above 5000 in the process.

Alternative to console cheats, maybe a reload? Although I know some people consider reloading a cheat as well.

I've never had a problem getting that sword, and I've never even played a stealth character. If a gigantic Nord with a full suit of heavy iron armor and 5 Sneak can take the sword without being seen, so can you. :)

Yeah, i know that cheat, but i would prefer not to use it. Don't like cheating, too easy. Thanks anyways!

I didn't even try to sneak, my plan was to simply get the sword, kill the guard with it, drop all of my gear and turn myself in outside.
Later I would return, put on my clothes and armor, and continue playing, only now with one of the best swords in the game.

Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan: First of all, I didn't even manage to kill the guard, so all of a sudden I had to flee the tower to avoid being slaughtered.
As soon as I went outside, another guard ran up to me proclaiming that I had earned a death warrant.
After being chased down a couple of hours by a small army of guards i was able to sneak into a pub called The Eight Plates.
Then I rented a room, dropped all of my stuff, (except for some clothes, lockpicks, etc.) and rested until 1 am.

Then I ran outside, jumped into the Odai river, escaped the guards and since then i've been wandering along the Bitter Coast region, waiting for someone to help me remove my bounty :)

lol... I see then. Usually I hop up on the urns in the corner, hit sneak, wait for the indicator, and manage to grab the sword without being seen. Strange how wearing heavy iron armor and tiptoeing on top of a clay pot passes for stealth in this game, but on the other hand that very strangeness is a big part of why I love Morrowind.

On one playthrough I used telekinesis and a few times I had that stealth amulet (forgot the name) before I got around to grabbing the sword. I also seem to remember admire/taunting the guard into attacking me first with at least one character.

@MehanizedDeath: Morrowind is a game of infinite possibilities :)

Well, i think i'm going to listen to Larrius Varro's "Little story", or whatever he likes to call it.
I did hear some rumors in Balmora about Larrius swearing an oath to stop corruption, maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanks for the advice, the only thing i have to worry about now is getting into the legion fort before the guards outside can catch me...
