Deathclaw attacks are unavoidable.

I have 196 Dwellers (kept below 200 on purpose). Many of my Dwellers are maxed level and SPECIAL. All my rooms are fully upgraded (I have one elevator shaft straight down the middle a single maxed room off each side... 41 total rooms.)

To combat the DC attacks my third room is a kill box. The first 10 Dwellers that DC encounter are all maxed level with maxed SPECIAL and have the best gear.

To AVOID attacks, I removed my Radio room, and my last dweller was sent out 5 hours and 46 minutes ago...

Without the door opening... the DC attacked.

Deathclaws are WAY too overpowered! They also refuse to fight dwellers long enough, so the most powerful people get left behind while those bastards slice through the lower floors... Also keeping people alive is quite tricky in this environment, since they are all randomly moving. Eventually, someone dies, which is a huge bummer in a training room, since you can't rush it to make dwellers happy again. I understand that developers need to give people a challenge, but can we at least get them to stay in a room longer so we will have a fighting chance? Also, how does this event treat people who haven't got good weapons or max lvl/stat dwellers? I imagine their whole vault gets massacred or am I wrong?

Have you tried dragging your elite dwellers to intercept the deathclaws after they run on by? That's what I do, and it works pretty well.

This doesn't help people lacking elite dwellers, of course. There the deathclaws are a serious problem.

i got around 30 dwellers with max level and stats with appropriate weapons, but i have a lot of trouble with precision in this game, always clicking on the wrong thing and dragging dwellers into wrong rooms (i guess iPhone 6 is still small for me haha), and they were all scattered on the lower floors or out in the wasteland, so by the time i gathered everyone in the room, Deathclaws already moved onto another one. I have changed the structure of my vault now, although ended up in spending 100k caps. Waiting for a next attack to see if my strategy works.

My first DC attack came when I had 62 dwellers without ever having built a radio room, so suffice it so say it was a very close fight. :(

But that's not even the biggest issue, imo the main problem is that there is nothing coming after that. Once you learn to deal with them (60 dwellers is pretty early on, I would say), there is nothing challenging afterwards anymore.

I would have preferred even stronger DCs but then have them first appear at around 100 so there is something interesing for the late game.

Nope, your not wrong. I've had two DC attacks today, and had my people killed. I managed to revive all but eight dwellers, due to a lack of caps. I lost those dwellers, one of which was a Yellow quality dweller. The Deathclaws are way too freaking OP and need a serious nerf.

Deathclaws wiped half my Vault, got two attacks almost back to back. I didn't think they'd be showing up so early, but they did. Started over, wasn't really a situation I could salvage.

I use a mini vault strategy to combat deathclaws.

first room after the vault is a 3x1 filled with max dwellers. Raiders get dealt with here. Once a death claw moves past this they run a gauntlet of 2 floors filled with 1x1 and 1x2 rooms. It takes the deathclaws so long to run the gauntlet that I have time to move my max dwellers to a lower floor. Death claws usually never make it past floor 3 in this trap.

I also agree that deathclaws are a little OP especially for earlier-game, I hit 62 dwellers and all of a sudden lost 12-14 people that i couldnt revive.

The problem here is, that we're expected at 50-60 which is not very far into the game.. to have everyone with raised stats and super powerful weapons and high levels and be able to withstand that crap.. which most people do not have..

So raising the population number that they appear at to eg 100 and making them a little stronger for then + stay in rooms longer, makes it a more valid threat and better for late game and also molerats should come from 50 or 60 and be a tad more difficult and prior to that be radroaches to even things out, you also have raiders coming, which should in a future update have stronger weapons available further down the track and vary in numbers between 1-3 earlier on randomly, and 4-6 later on.

Just some thoughts BETHESDA, please listen, i am anxiously awaiting more updates because this is fun :)

By the looks the only way to fend deathclaw attacks is by doing objectives for lunchboxes for unique/rare items or scavenging items, or having a ton of stims. Basically if you can't find some high dmg weapon, you are screwed.
