I killed 2 Deathclaws outside the Dead Wind Cavern and 2 inside, all using the silenced .22 pistol. But the challenge still says I've killed 0 out of 5. I had used no console commands but I decided to exit the game and restart Steam to eliminate any possible issues on my end. Just in case it was a bug with the .22, I then I killed 3 with the switchblade and still nothing. These were Deathclaws that just said "Deathclaw" in VATS - not young, not blind, etc.. I really wanted to complete this 3-star challenge so I don't have to go and kill a bunch of NCR officers (all the Legion officers are already dead). The other 3-star I did was to deactivate then punch all the Gutsies that the Boomers use, which was too easy for a 3-star challenge.

Anyway, did anyone else have problems with the Deathclaw Pro Hunger challenge? BTW, I was surprised at how effective the .22 and switchblade were from close-range and stealth in the darkness. Optimizing my character for high critical hit ratio seemed to be key (duster, 1st recon beret, true crime magazine, gun & critical-related perks). Am I doing something wrong or is this just one of those bugs that slips through QA? Thanks!

Ok, just saw the wiki page updated with info that I probably need to kill the Deathclaws at Quarry Junction for this challenge to work.

uh... but I cleared that area long ago, and I don't remember those deathclaws to respawn, would those near Vault 19 work?

According to the wiki page, the Vault 19 deathclaws don't work (at least on the PS3). I thought some of the deathclaws on the road near Quarry Junction respawned? And maybe the ones by the back exit, past where they Great Khans have their makeshift camp?

Well, I'm on a PC so maybe I'll just have to skip this challenge and cheat around it by resurrecting and killing Caesar 10 times. His is the only named Legion officer whose body is still around in my game. Or I guess I could save, go kill a lot of NCR officers, finish the challenge & achievement, then go back to my old save.
