Deathclaws: Am I Just Lucky?

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 5:16 pm

So I've finally gone brave enough to breach the sixty dweller mark. My population has had a baby-boom from 58 to 78 dwellers and the inevitable happened; a Deathclaw attack. "Oh crap" I thought. "This is gonna [censored] me up" I thought. What happened?

NOTHING.

They simply ran from room to room not hanging around long enough to kill anything. I brought them to heel about half-way through my vault which I haven't really designed around repelling Deathclaws. Didn't use a stimpack or anything! I just took the plunge without real preparation. Just today I've had a Mole Rat outbreak that took out three Mr Handy's and cost 10000 in revives (inc. the three Mr Handy's); that's what I get for looking at my computer screen instead of my phone.

What's all the fuss about? Was I just lucky?

Were they supposed to be looking for something? I have not played this game, but it sounds like they were looking for something.

Yeh, with any emergency you need to be paying attention to your vault after 40-50 dwellers. Right now on my new vault I was lucky to get a MIRV with my 2nd lunchbox, and now I just keep that in inventory until something happens and then quickly equip it. Radroaches last like 3 seconds, Raiders about 5 a piece. If you pay attention and have people properly armed, nothing is really a threat unless you let it become one.

If you let things go though, they will slip easily.

death claws quickly go from room to room, for me everyone above level 6 can hold out until they pass. if you can not kill them then just move people to rooms they already passed.

They start out pretty weak. They get much stronger as your vault grows. I had to learn that the hard way. I've had a group of deathclaws wipe out entire rooms before moving down and wiping out the next room.

Tip: Make sure your current dwellers are well armed before having a bunch of babies.

yesterday I took a deep breath and opened my luchbox, knowing that I may get new dweller. It happened. Now I have 61 dwellers. But no deathclaws yet? I'm not worried that much, even if they kill everyone I have so much caps that I could revive my whole vault few times.
