Deathclaws on Steroids!

Why are you giving Gardenia so much grief? If your opinion is that he/she is too reliant on hand-holding on the forums, that's fine, but you could just avoid threads started by Gardenia. People are comfortable with different levels of difficulty.

I gave one reply based on what R.J. said, and it wasn't directed to Gardenia, and I didn't wish to continue but she responded to it, so I did in turn. I avoided replying to any of the threads apart from some brief answers in the first couple of her(?) threads, although I do read most just to see what the thread is about. I'm not out there get her(?) or doing it for fun, I just couldn't believe this was happening, and that people would be like that, especially for someone who seems somewhat keen to play this game.

Use armor piercing ammo.

Try to position yourself on a rock or ledge where they can't easily get to you, to give yourself those needed extra moments to hopefully get a few crit shots in. Set up bottlecap mines or satchel charges along the path to you, if you have time.

Anything which ignores DT will help. Killing deathclaws with Rawr's Fist has a certain poetic irony to it.

Are you using a follower? They're a useful meat shield sometimes. They go down fast, though, so if you're on hardcoe they'll probably die. Be sure to give them some stimpaks.

edit- Sometimes, there's nothing to do but back out of a situation, if you're at low level. Save early save often, and reload to avoid that area if you can't beat them.

Nobody else comes here asking the sorts of questions you have, and seeing as you have played Fallout 3 you have a general idea of how the game is played already.
The answers to your questions will come if you simply think a little and play the game some more...how about you learn by doing, that's the best way, figure it out for yourself.
How about you not open the thread? Or, you know, just kick rocks? The forum exists for players to help each other and discuss the game. If you have nothing but trolling to say, move on.

Riot shotgun + flechettes + And Stay Back, and it's like beating up a baby. A huge, hairy, tough-skinned, extremely dangerous baby.

Hairy?

Method 1: Stealth Mode:: [HIDDEN] Anti-Material Rifle loaded with AP rounds Headshot Sneak Critical I kill Deathclaws in 1 shot with this method on Normal. Method 2: Stealth Mode:: [HIDDEN] Any Rifle Left/Right Leg Sneak Critical Cripple the legs, fire at it, back up as it limps closer, fire again, repeat till dead. Method 3: Lay out Frag/Plasma mines and lure the Deathclaw into the trap. Just be sure to not be in the mines blast radius as they go off. Method 4: Grenade Machinegun works wonders, expecially if you aim it at their feet as you're running from it. Method 5: When all else fails; nuke it. Hope this helps, RR

If I want to be spoon fed all of the answers that’s my business not yours. If you find it offensive then please don’t read my threads. You seem to have set up some sort of standard that games are to be played by because you sure are pushing hard to get your way on this issue.

Fair warning though, he has a point in the sense that New Vegas is a game best enjoyed when it makes you think, the moral conflicts especially. If you don't give time and put thought into those, then you'll probably finish New Vegas thinking it's a mediocre game, not realizing what you've missed.
It is your choice, but for example your other thread where you questioned what to do with the Brotherhood of Steel? Those are the kinds of questions you should keep to yourself and try to solve yourself if you want to get the most out of this game. They make you question your own morals and who you are, and they're what makes the game great.

Exactly. This isn't a game that is meant to be played with someone holding your hand, and while it certainly can be played that way, you're going to miss a big part of it if you don't make the choices yourself.

I admit I was somewhat the same, overwhelmed by the moral decisions and frustrated that I had to make decisions NOW and wasn't 100% sure their consequences would be good, and my very first playthrough of New Vegas, I wanted to put it down and pick up FO3 again, cause FO3 makes it easy and holds your hand.

Then I decided to do a pure NCR playthrough where I don't worry about morals, but about pleasing the NCR. Why? Frees me from moral responsibility and lets me see the majority of the game and people's views, since the NCR has the most content. And it worked like a charm. Then I saw the good, the bad and the ugly of the NCR and I had some experiences to build opinions off of. From there it got better. A LOT better. Became my favorite game of all time.

Last sentence of the first paragraph under Gameplay Attributes.

I'm going to test this later. Can anyone tell me how to set DT with the console? Would it be 'player.setav damagethreshold x'?

My apologies if these stats are incorrect, but according to that one perk (the name escapes me) that allows you to see target health and DT, an advlt Deathclaw has 500 health and 15 DT.

With some testing I did (playing on Very Hard), I found that for the initial sneak attack critical headshot, going with hollow point bullets, despite increasing the targets DT, will cause more damage to the Deathclaw than if you were to use AP ammo. You have an AMR, so hollow point is not available, but it is something to keep in mind.

Alternatively, aim your initial sneak-attack critical at one of their legs, rendering them an easy target. Some psycho beforehand would also serve, as well as some Yao Guai meat (if you've been to Zion) to boost your damage as far as possible.

It seems the one problem with that is if you are using VATS then the farther away the DC is your percentages go down....in VATS that is. Seems like that wouldn't work.

Then dont use VATS. With a gun skill of 97 you should be able to get quite a steady shot off.

I find that VATS is a close range panic button. At mid or long range I do much better aiming down sights or scoped

get a good gun skill, sneak critical attack the death claw, use armor piercing ammo (which is easier to find than regular anti-material rifle bullets for some reason), and get a armor with high dt and you're all set. another good tip is get an automatic weapon with a high dps likea minigun
