Deathclaws too easy?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 6:47 pm

A heavily modified Gauss gun is like a rolled up newspaper, and the Deathclaw is a puppy dog. I was murdering lvl 50 - 52 Deathclaws, Legendary Deathclaws and Legendary Glowing Deathclaws at lvl 42 and in X power armor.

P.S. Sell their meat.. Nice caps.

P.P.S The three hardest enemies I have come across that put a Deathclaw of any type to shame, were a Legendary Sentrybot, A Legendary Glowing Mirelurk Queen, and a Legendary Putrid Bloodbug. The Mirelurk Queen was the most difficult, but I blame it mostly on my environment at that time. It was hard to get away from her. The bloodbug just wouldn't stay still, and the Sentrybot was just ruthlessly pursuing me.

I chuckled at this... always reminds me of the NPC's in Fable... "It's easy if you know how!"

Good to know. I guess hard for my lvl 4 newb, easier as it goes.

They are way too easy in FV4! In previous games I would be running along, hear those footsteps out of nowhere and know immediately it was a deathclaw and that I was dead meat. Now you're killing one at level 2 with some power armor as part of the main storyline? Pishaw.

That depends on the pistols. If you got the Delieverer, all modded, that pistol can snipe and kill anything in the game.

Sniper build. I equip chameleon armor and bait them with followers, then snipe from distance, preferrably form a height. They are NOT easy for me.

I play a silent snipe and pistol/shotgun, the few times I encountered them I died like 2 or 3 times before I get the kill, I'm lvl 22 and its still hard as [censored], also I play on hard, maybe on normal they get to be way weaker.

The Concord Deathclaw isn't an accurate representation of Deathclaws as a whole. I've faced off against a Legendary Glowing Deathclaw thinking, oh it'll just grab me and toss me on the ground (wearing PA at the time). Yeah no. I was dead. Real dead.

There are level 90 deathclaws out there. And from witnessing over leveled enemies showing up sometimes. it could be possible to run up on one when your not the same level as it.

I've yet to actually die from a deathclaw. Early game I was kinda wary of them, but after taking down an alpha before it could reach me(without using any sort of exploit, just out gunned it) I've come to the conclusion that they are WAY to easy. I shouldn't be able to fight two deathclaws at once with relative ease. This is on hard and then very later btw.

Psychojet makes everything killable. I found two randomly attacking each other i put down a bottlecap mine and lured him into it. If they sneak up on you though...

I'm guessing the conclusion to this will be.

It depends.

Because the game has a variety of strategies, damage types, resistances and so on. One enemy that is extremely easy for one, is hard for another.

So: Unless you micromanage an inventory that can take dominance in all situations and switch each time depending on enemy type, you're going to have some hard battles, and some easy ones, ahead.

So far I have only fought the one in Concord, but I have a question: a couple times when it got right in my face, it was like none of my buttons worked and i couldnt move, and all I could do was just helplessly watch it maul me until suddenly I could move again. Is this normal? A bug? Deathclaw paralysis?

They're still absolute beasts. It's just that there are some other really, really mean enemies in Fallout 4 that give the Deathclaw a run for it's money.

It depends.

With Power Armor, and a Gauss Rifle? Absolutely. Without one or the other? Occasionally - especially glowing deathclaws, deadly deathclaws, or matriarchs.

Regular Deathclaws seem to fall behind the player in power at mid-ish levels, but my encounter with the Savage Deathclaw showed me my place in the hierarchy of things. With my T60f suit, it took a full 10% of my max health in one attack. And it took a lot to kill. I was lucky I found it in a place I could hide and svck on my thumb for a bit before re-engaging it.

Nope. They're dangerous, dangerous enemies.

If you spam chems, heavy weapons, and PA but call a deathclaw "easy", well you clearly should try fighting one with leather armor and a pistol.

With Jet and its variants, everything is too easy. AI simply cannot deal with the player when we can land all of our shots on Max Payne mode.

I stayed away from Deathclaws for a long, long time because I figured they'd rip me to pieces.

Then I had a chance encounter with one out of Power Armor and dropped it fairly handily with a Combat Rifle. Since then, they haven't really been an issue. Disappointed, honestly.

There are far worse things than deathclaws out there... Ran into something tonight that had me running away in full power armor.

I stumbled into a sinkhole while creeping around a town during yet another foggy day. There were two deathclaws present and I thought I was screwed. I was in a T-45C suit using the Chinese serrated electrified sword. I got knocked around a bit, however I was the last one standing. While traipsing through the Minutemen armory I had to deal with an annoying NPC constantly getting in the way of me taking out the named sentrybot, The Sarge, I believe. I just crouch sniped him through the blocking rubbish whenever he passed the doorway. Overall, the game feels easier than the last two, if somewhat annoying. When I headshot an unarmored normal using either a .50 or .308 speced sniper rifle and getting either 1/4 or 1/2 damage, I call BS.

The deathclaws at the glowing sea crumpled under my excellence... conversely mirelurk kings peel open power armour like a tin of cram.
