2 Deathlords vs level 3

Post » Thu Aug 08, 2013 11:34 am

So I go to Solstheim at level 3 and go to find the Bloodskal Blade, only to face 2 Deathlords with ebony swords at level 3!!! Wtf!?I had to turn the difficulty to apprentice and even then it was near impossible. I had to spend an hour firing iron arrow at them!

After that Zahkriisos was also around level 40 or something because his lightning spells literally one shotted me. No time for a potion, I just died.

Was this meant to happen or was it a bug? I had to go NOVICE (weeps) from apprentice to just barely beat Zahkriisos.

Some dungeons level (lock) relative to your level when you first enter them, and some are set to a minimum level. There's no way to tell except by trial and error in-game or the Creation Kit.

^^ This! ^^ Solstheim is tough and not meant for the faint of heart. You'd be better off going back to the mainland to level up for a while.

could this be why it is the LAST dlc released? To give people time to buff up their characters?

Makes absolutely no sense since people start new characters all of the time, including after DLC is released.

I already have around 3 level 70+. Miraak's little servant people come to you when the Greybeards call you so you could be going there for a quest at a VEEERY low level.

I was in the 50's for level when I got DB and it was fun with some challenging enemies. Even if I make up a character and target him for the DLC I'll probably wait till around level 20 before I go. That is the recommended minimum level.

Also there are some single enemies that are always high leveled with high level equipment, regardless of your level. The whole game is not level scaled. Only most of it :hehe:

The DLC does send you there should you get a misc quest. But that's where you save before receiving said quest. Solstheim has higher level enemies. The weakest being level 20.

It DOES mean better loot for lower level character though surely?

Or is loot leveled to your character level and not the dungeon level??

EDIT:

Answered my own question...

I've done Bloodskal burrow/cave* on a level 10 character, but I've had him set specifically for what I was going to do: All his levelups were spent on health and he had both Lydia and Frea along.

This went very well, but I have no idea about a level 3 -never tried it.

*Scratch that -it was Miraak's Temple and I had found Deathlords in there as well.

I like this. They actually included some things low levels just have to run away from. So much better than oblivion.

Level 3, on my own with 7 potions. I'm surprised I did it on apprentice.

Like one exception out of the whole game.

Unless you're at least lveel 20, Solstheim is beyond difficult.

A kill is a kill but... spending an hour tickling them down to death with iron arrows? Was it worth the strain on your nerves?

I have had two single digit level characters enter and survive Solsthiem on Adept, A Dual Wielder and a Warhammer User. The Dual Wielder was the easiest because of damage output, even if the :swear: Dragonpriest caused My character to run out of Health Potions. The Two Hander survived because of Sniping the Dragonpriest with an Ebony Bow (and using difficult to obtain Ebony Arrows).

Congratulations on keeping a low level character alive!

I did forget Umbra. But that's one enemy in one dungeon. Solstheim is an entire island.

That's rough. I was mad last night when I did the first Companions radiant quest and they sent me after a Falmer Shadowmaster with a Sphere Centurion bodyguard at level 7. My wife at level 6 had to go beat up a merchant in Whiterun for the same quest.

I think yours trumps mine though.

Lol shadowmaster plus centurion vs 2 Deathlords and Zahkriisos. Sounds equal apart from Zahkriisos.
