Decals/Scars/Facepaint confirmed!

He is probably referring to higher resolution textures and higher polygon counts. Most likely polygons, usually when you hear game designers talk about resolution they mean the density of the mesh.

So...hi-res textures for PC are in? :celebration: :celebration:

This video gives me hope that there will be dismemberment. The warrior holding the severed head is much darker than anything we've seen in the Elder Scrolls so far.

The executioner was shown with the severed head in a previous video.

And yes, the fact that the head is severed would suggest that heads can be severed.

Spoiler
it could be the PCs head that he's holding

Op you forgot face paint.

FACEPAINT?!?

Then again that just a manly way of describing make-up.

Nords don't wear make-up, they wear FACEPAINT!

My 6 year old wears face paint.

My Nord character wears WARPAINT.

I heard "Scars, decals, and facepaint" and was immediately overjoyed. You can NEVER, EVER have too much customization. It really makes your character feel unique to you.

This. I loved the Dunmer facepaint in Morrowind, getting that back would be amazing. Though if I have to choose, I'll go with some scars.

If implemented correctly, I can see how this would only add to the immersion and RPG feel of the game. After all RPGs are about feeling real and immersive, barber shops aren't fake/made up things, they're real. So it adds to being a real world.
But enough talk about Fable, this isn't a Fable bashing thread nor are we comparing Skyrim to anything.

Barber shops better not have that annoying red and white swirly thing outside.

I don't think "scars" means "scarring". It sounded like it's something you can do when you create a character, considering the rest of the sentence was something like "during character generation.".

Decals can also be tattoos, which is what I think they must be here. That, or tribal warpaint.

Edit: Excuse me, face paint.

Uh god. I would hate to see my favourite series become fable. I do like fable but I prefer TES and with no TES where will I be? Next we'll be getting hair styles from the barbers that actually grow your hair |-(

Well in Fable, scars were punishment for getting knocked down, in TES they are to allow you to choose whether you want scars to differentiate your character more. Just because a game has scars in it now doesn't mean it's a ripoff of Fable... Reminds me of that letter of the Twilight fan girl that said Wolfman was a ripoff of Twilight....

I want that tribal tattoo they had on the cover of Bloodmoon. The werewolf symbol. Looks sick. Maybe add some scars too.

I also like the blue applied paint on the Nord's faces from Morrowind, the customize face section.

Hope scars get applied over time.

Man I hope not. That was one of the worst features in the original fable. I spend all this time making this great looking character only to have him look like he went through a meat grinder by the time I hit hour 15. If they include it I will be severely annoyed and frustrated.
