Decals/Scars/Facepaint confirmed!

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:46 am

Yeah I don't see them going through the trouble of making Decals and such for NPCs and not allow you to put them on the PC. He said right in the interview that they put Alot more into the character creation/customization process, and I think this directly relates. I would also not be surprised if we can get tattoos or special marks if we, say, join the thieves or assassins guild - like a gang tat.

This update was very nicely done, beautiful music in the background and Matt gave a very nice delivery, clear and fun to listen to! Great job Bethesda, these updates are awesome! :goodjob:

I think he is saying in a [censored] car way like emblems and stuff like that attached to armour. I think that would be cool and awesome also think we can get mages to remove the tattoos? We should be able to get armorers to get rid of the emblems.

I'm putting a big NOS sticker on my left butt cheek. It will make me look faster.

In all seriousness, adding scars at creation would be mighty fine to me.

I really hope that the scars aren't added over time, but something done in character creation.

Thanks for the image I noticed that in the video - nice attitude and nice armour.

I wonder if we'll be able to flip people off ingame and them react to it.

Barber shops better not have that annoying red and white swirly thing outside.

If they don't then I will learn to model and animate and make them myself, unless someone else beats me to it (I really hope someone beats me to it, I have little time as it is :P )

This would be awesome. Being able to recognise fellow members of your guild with a subtle tattoo, great thought.

Yeahp, these updates are really making me excited.
I wonder what types of facepaint we'll be able to use? Different colors, how will it be applied, etc?

Well MY Nord will have Hello Kitty tattoos and curling iron scars.

Surely now facepaint is confirmed, all Nords should have the option to get their faces painted like Khajits....

Right below the scene with the map and Orcish armor, you can see a bit of what looks like Horker concept art. There's even a caption on one that says, "Arf!" :P

What is this about were-creatures at :23? How can you make out any specifics with the camera that far back?

Uh god. I would hate to see my favourite series become fable. I do like fable but I prefer TES and with no TES where will I be? Next we'll be getting hair styles from the barbers that actually grow your hair |-(

Uh, yeah, because Fable came up with the idea of face customization in games.

Your post makes no sense. =/

Man I hope not. That was one of the worst features in the original fable. I spend all this time making this great looking character only to have him look like he went through a meat grinder by the time I hit hour 15. If they include it I will be severely annoyed and frustrated.

The way he described it made it sound like that scars were there to add during character customization, so I don't think we'll have to worry about that.

No one said it was going to be like Fable. I'm guessing that scars will just be a feature you can choose in character creation, not something you get during gameplay. And if you can choose it duration character creation, it's not "like Fable", in fact, some faces in Morrowind already had scars, it just wasn't in Oblivion, probably because Bethesda didn't have a good way to make scars work with the face generation in Oblivion. But now, that's obviously changed. And being able to choose features like scars and such during character creation was something I hoped to see, so I'm glad to hear it's in.

Now, I would be annoyed if scars were applied during the game if you take damage like in Fable, but I don't expect to see that.

notice how he said dynamic :)

that pretty much means we will get a tattoo for each body part, to tattoos like apb does them. i hope we get to earn tattoos (most of them should choosable at the start, but some should be locked such as a dremora tattoo or a morag tong assassin seal .

off topic- i realy hate the armour that the redguard woman is wearing. it doesnt look tes at all. i also dont like the concept art for the elven armour much, but i think we have seen it ingame. it looks cool ingame

I don't think the Redguard is wearing Elven, it doesn't match the aesthetic in the first picture.

Could be Glass.

All these are really good news! :)
What I'd really love to see in Skyrim though is a system that would allow us to put our faces in the game, perhaps by importing some photographs.
I know Oblivion used a 3rd party program for that job,the Facegen, but in order to use this I have to pay a commercial license and it's just too expensive if the only thing you want to do with it is create one or two faces for Oblibion.
I'd really like to see a feature that would allow us to use a system like this, only for Skyrim.

Hopefully we'll be able to attain scars from battle -- but also have the option to remove them as well.

I'm glad they're bringing it back.
