In the newest GI update, it was confirmed that we have the ability to add decals, and scars!
But to what extent? Does that mean decals on armor, or tattoos? Also, is anyone else more excited about this game more than ever now??

I'd say tattos are in if scars are too.

It would be stupid not to.

Uh god. I would hate to see my favourite series become fable. I do like fable but I prefer TES and with no TES where will I be? Next we'll be getting hair styles from the barbers that actually grow your hair |-(

If implemented correctly, I can see how this would only add to the immersion and RPG feel of the game. After all RPGs are about feeling real and immersive, barber shops aren't fake/made up things, they're real. So it adds to being a real world.
But enough talk about Fable, this isn't a Fable bashing thread nor are we comparing Skyrim to anything.

Decals?

I think he is saying in a [censored] car way like emblems and stuff like that attached to armour. I think that would be cool and awesome also think we can get mages to remove the tattoos? We should be able to get armorers to get rid of the emblems.

A decal is...
Something that you ink over on an item. Like a pattern or design. But it's removable. Basically a decal is a tattoo for something other than skin.

I heard "Scars, decals, and facepaint" and was immediately overjoyed. You can NEVER, EVER have too much customization. It really makes your character feel unique to you.

Op you forgot face paint.

FACEPAINT?!?

Then again that just a manly way of describing make-up.

Nords don't wear make-up, they wear FACEPAINT!

Good stuff. Another interesting factoid. On one of the concept art pieces shown, one of the characters is shown with a halberd. It is kind of faint, almost if it was drawn in then erased later. Could it be a clue to those kinds of weapons in the game? Maybe, but it is never wise to go only based on concept art lol.

Same here. My facial expression went from interested to excited instantly. It was pretty funny. I cannot WAIT to make my Nord now.

I'm glad they have that Viking book there and the Rough Work Frazetta book as well. Bodes very well for the art direction.

He is probably referring to higher resolution textures and higher polygon counts. Most likely polygons, usually when you hear game designers talk about resolution they mean the density of the mesh.

This video gives me hope that there will be dismemberment. The warrior holding the severed head is much darker than anything we've seen in the Elder Scrolls so far.
