Decapitation and Dismemberment

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:30 am

FO3 is over the top in the gore side which makes me laugh a lot during gameplay but I wouldn`t want Skyrim saturated as much as FO3. (Bloody Perk was just annoying after a while)

If I swing a two handed axe or sword and connect with some NPC, I would love to know there is a chance of a decapitation or perhaps severing their arm. Dosen`t have to be eyeballs flying and stuff. :hubbahubba:

I might've misled you there, I said that Fallouts gore suited it's own universe, Black Humour, Sadism, etc, to a disturbingly hilarious degree. I did mean however, that it wouldn't work well in a more serious game (TES), and would require something more suitable such as the removal of limbs etc.

With the bloody mess perk in Fallout:3, I could get a sneak attack pistol shot in the back and the person would explode with everything sudeenly removing itself from the torso, it's obviously over the top which isn't something i'd like to see in Skyrim, but I wouldn't mind a subtle reference to it, for example.

A simple fetch quest requires you to gain a dragon's breath amulet, after giving said quest giver the amulet, he adorns it and then says "Oh my..." before being blasted into millions of tiny pieces, with blood spraying the walls etc.

if decapitations are in is it safe to say that there will be location based damage? I dont know if this has been officially confirmed or not...

I would like realistic damage and decapitation rather than FO3's rather judicious gore. So eg no decapitations with a dagger or with an arrow, only from claymores, longswords and large axes.

If the player is dedicated and decides to spend a good 5-10 minutes hacking and sawing away at his fallen enemy's neck I see no reason why dagger-decapitations shouldn't be allowed.

I want Rivers of Blood!! Like you slash your enemy with a sword and blood starts gushing out in crimson torrents!! He falls over but it just keeps coming, soon a raging river of blood flows across the countryside, devasting forests and farmland alike. Within 2 days of killing your first enemy all of skyrim is reduced to a red ocean...and youve finished maximizing your swimming skill.

I'd rather not have it. Violent finishing moves are enough.

I tried the mod Deadly Reflex for Oblivion, and the gore in that mod was just... out of place. It just felt wrong.
And from what I've seen of FO3, that's just gross. Arms, legs, heads, mutated double-headed cow heads... Yuck.

I'm not against gore in general though, I mean I love headless zombies and rotten corpses... and a bit of blood when I assassinate people. But how realistic is it to sever a person's leg with a sword with ease, for example? We're not made of jelly.

So let the limbs and heads stay on the corpses, please.

as cool as it is to have those things in games- IE fallout 3 and Dead Space- it just doesn't seem TES. Todd did say they weren't gonna worry about the rating, they were just gonna make the game how they want to. Dismembering, although cool, just seems to barbaric for the fantasy realm TES usually strives for.

Barbaric? This is land of the Nords, my friend. Vikings, Barbarians, and the like- all within a world littered with murderers, necromancers, demons from other realms, savage creatures that want nothing more than to kill you and eat your innards, and more.

The thing is, realism has little bearing on a fantasy game where you play as a Dark elf running around a place with giant mushrooms while swinging your sword 50 times in the hopes of doing X amount of damage to take down cliff racer.

Perhaps a character of sufficient strength or something will have an easier time dismembering someone, because if you gave the average man today a sword and told him to cut someones arm off, it probably wouldn't be done in one swift easy swing, it'd take a few.

Hopefully for us magic lovers, a volatile magic explosion could tear off said limbs :D

Some realistic gore would be nice. Nothing over the top. The gore in Fallout 3 is very akin to the gore in Fallout 1 and 2, which were absolutely hilarious, but far from realistic.

I mean, lopping an arm or head off on death would do just fine. Would be nice if swords would leave slash marks on flesh, and if hammers left puncture wounds or impact marks.

Some realitic gore?
Refer to bulletstorm, it has dismemberment and member tearing.

I want to place my hand over my opponents face, then release a horrifyingly powerful fire blast. When I remove it all that is left is a smoldering skull. As the body topples over the skull roles away.

Now that is a decapitation worthy of TES.

That should definitely be a finishing move for mages, that is freakin cool. :cookie:

What does this have to do with anything? Don't post if it's going to make zero sense.

I would enjoy it on the level of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, if it is similar to Fallout I would be very disappointed.

It always was great when I wandered with a low level guy in Fallout and found some creature way tougher than me. Come in, one hit and my character's head goes flying.

Made it that much more enjoyable when I came by as a level 25 guy and utterly demolished the creature.

One of my faverite parts of FO3 is when you blow a guys head up and then you can scavinge his shirt from his eye ball thats laying 20 feet away from his body.

I want it. I also want wounds to appear on enemies when I slash them. However I would like it tones down a bit from the crazyness of fallout

Hell yeah. One of my favourite things about FO3 is seeing heads and body parts go flying in super slow mo..never gets old! (Playing through again as I type and just blew an Enclave Scientist`s head off to bounce against the wall lol)

In Skyrim I want to see heads fly after my axe hews them from their necks...hands getting cut off...arms becoming stumps...legs, feet...yeah. Forget your tasteful rubbish, unleash a gore-fest option for us butchers

Add a less-gore option for those with delicate stomachs

Quote !! i whant to se this !

I would be satisfied with some visible wounds where you hit them. I think it would be a bit too much to have decapitation and dismemberment unless it was like a finishing move that you could perform on injured enemies.

"...if we were older. Then we wouldn't have to wait so long"... ummm got detracted a bit there... The Beachboys aside...

Wouldnt it be nice to see some decapitation and dismemberment when we kill enemies or get killed ourselves. I'd love to hack an enemy in two with a claymore.. or see his head go flying off with a successful sword stroke.

On the flip side I'd love to see my character die in awful ways as well... His limbs blasted off by a powerful fireball.. flying off in multiple different directions as fountains of blood spurt from their ruined stumps... mmm....

(all cosmetic on death so that it doesnt have to affect actual gameplay... though it would be nice if it did... chop off a guys left arm and he can no longer use a shield... hack off his legs and he cant stand anymore.)

And dood you should totally be able to put your fist through somebodies chest when fighting in hand to hand and rip their heart out and eat it in front of them.

But I agree, this is Skyrim after all and the combat should be pretty brutal, not as over the top as Fallout 3 (shoot somebody in the chest with a pistol and his head goes that way <- and his legs go that way ->) but it would be nice to be able to lop off your enemies head and watch it roll down the mountain.

Todd said it will be more violent but come on guys do we really have to take it over the top. Fallout and Elder Scrolls are two completely different series unrelated to each other. So do we really need to have all this guts and gore for elder scrolls.it has never been that type of game. These two franchise were originally produced seperately so should be treated as such. meaning that i dont think we shuld look to fallout gore to make an example for skyrim. looks more to previous idk...elder scrolls games??? maybe add a few cuts here and there. but im not into this total dismemberment disembowling stuff. i thot it was cheesy on fallout and i want skyrim to be anyting but cheesy. too much gore makes it cartoonish u want realistic gore.

That's a shame really, as It's viewed as a classic (IMDB rates it at 8.4)

The start upto the fight isn't very funny, but it's the fight scene itself (albeit awfully fought), it's led to such quotes as "It's just a flesh wound..." "I'm invincible!" "I've had worse!" and so on, infact the film pretty much radicalised most comedies at the time.

After John Cleese's character claims he was turned into a newt, the knight who is doing an investigation on the witch asks "A newt..?" and he replies, "...I got better..." that quote alone has viralled it's way into many films after it.

I can't think of any other way to explain it, I can't think of one person who hasn't liked it.
