I hope that works for 2-handed weapons too.

Then never activate that perk. Problem solved.

I remember that Beth admitted Deadly Reflex was one of the mods they got some inspiration from for combat (hence the shield bash), so it's relatively safe to assure they got decap from that mod, too.

Thats like saying they copied swords off World of Warcraft.

I just hope it isn't like Fallout's 3 gore.

When I dicapitate someone's head I have no wish to flood the entire valley beneath us and demolish a village or two in a huge, endless tide of blood.

I'm surprised! The demo showed little gore; the first person "camera" panned away from impaling people in finishing moves. Decapitation will probably be just a finishing move as well. I guess it's a way to kill enemies instantly when they have low health.

One handed perk?!

Is there something about swinging with two hands that makes it harder to sever limbs? :(

Can't decap with a 2Hander. Instead, you cleave them in twain on Vorpal strikes.

Kidding :D, it'd be cool though wouldn't it?

Sounds sweet, as long as we don't get that Fallout gore where their whole body explodes and you're covered in blood :/.

Decapitation..

Imo TES isn't about limbs flying off. So I couldn't care less about this. Only the sick minded find such satisfaction

That was a refreshing surprise! IMHO this rough land screams for violent and visceral combat!
Being optional is a plus too...

In fact it's not inspirated in Deadly Reflex since wasn't this mod who implemented decapitation in games, but still it's a good thing to have in Skyrim, adds more realism.

Deadly Reflex also didn't invent controlled shield bashing, but I'd still dare say that Bethesda considered adding the shield bashing move after seeing how well that worked in the mod.

After all, the reduced backpedalling speed and more powerful archery were also said to be inspired by Dukepatrick's Combat Archery mod.

Damn, pity they didn't use his ducking mod, loved that.

Not really, a proper French Heading Sword would have been two handed.

Hm. Not a huge deal to me, but I'll be happier if I can mod the decap probability down to 0% - assuming the perk has some other benefit that I want, or is a prerequisite for a better perk :).

So, what can we take away from this? Sometimes things come as a surprise. I say quit asking Pete questions and just wait till the game comes out so he doesn't spoil EVERYTHING.

Although I tend to love gore, I never picked up Fallout's "Bloody Mess" perk, just because I thought it might be incongruous if I shot someone in the chest with a 9mm and their entire body suddenly exploded. But a chance-of-decapitation perk---I'm definitely getting it.

Yeah Fallout's Bloody Mess perk was more a of a fun perk but it was too unrealistic on top of an already unrealistic system. It seems like Bethesda is getting the swing of realistic gore. I'm assuming no arrows will be taking off heads.

Combat perks in general will probably unlock new finishing moves as you unlock the ranks.
