Decent companion friendly homes?

Post » Sun Jul 11, 2010 11:09 am

Maybe they all are, I dont really have much experience using companions in Oblivion only FO3 (where there is such a thing as companion friendly or non-friendly housing).

Decided to try http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977 and then it occured to me, I dont really know which homes are decent for companions. I'm thinking navmesh, idle markers (or is that just a Fallout 3 terrm?) and such. I usually dont use Companions, so I really have no experience with which homes are decent for them.

I've at one play through or another owned all the vanillia homes and would like to try something else. Typically (at least lately) I just start out with the Imperial City shack then later on after several levels go to http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22810, as much as I love the Shadowcrest house, I'd like to try something different (we'll call that the summer home :)).

Emma herself has made some exceptionally beautiful houses:

Also, as Emma notes, everything by Korana is companion-friendly.

Wow, that was a fast answer!
The Aleswell Cottage actually looks perfect for the character I have in mind.
Thank you.

Vilja and I live in Aleswell cottage, too... And now that I have added Neeshka and another little personal companion, I'm the one ending up sleeping in the basemant :(. Or I'll soon send some of them over to my second home, Korana's Millstone Farm.

Else, the only *confirmed* companion friendly houses I know of are those by Korana and those by me. Most houses that are not too complicated in their structure will work OK with companions, though. It's trial and error. Just remember that if the companion misbehaves in a moddermade house, it isn't her/his fault! It's a matter of lack of pathgridding and lack of useable furniture.

If you like large, complex homes, I've found that Neeshka does well in Verona House (from Verona House Bloodlines), which has a "guest" wing just off the master bedroom. This is where she sleeps. (When off duty she reads or works alchemy in an entrance hall or visits the local pub.) The problem with Verona House is of course that you must be Champion of Cyrodiil before beginning the quests needed to acquire it. But it's one of the better quest mods, so worth the effort.

You might like to take an amble through http://www.oblivionsrealestate.com/. The majority of houses are companion friendly.

Not really, Meek... The houses on ORE are all very well done, fanastic creations in so many aspects, but many of them are not at all companion friendly, something Vilja and I have discovered the painful way! In fact, I have added pathgrids to several of them for personal usage. Houses so lovely that I find them must-haves... but still without pathgrids or with pathgrids and furniture that won't work for companions. Which is not at all odd, as Oblivion after all is a single-player game.

It would be lovely if there existed a list of houses that are companion-friendly.

As for Hoarfrost Castle, one of my playtesters for Vilja have been using it, and it has worked well, although I believe it was an area there where Vilja refused to sit down.
