Decent Memories

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 1:08 am

I just had to say, being here reminded me of the hours of fun in the mines, destroying crazy mining bots. It has been to long since I played them both. I need to hit up http://www.gog.com and buy them, I miss getting lost in the corridors and getting shot from all angles by energy weapons. Explosions, burnt metal, and plasma fire is there any other way for a child to grow up?

EDIT: Just now got the unintentional pun. Image

Perhaps this time, a new Descent will actually materialize. ------------------

Amen, to what Capm said.
Descent is still one of my favorite First Person Shooters ever made. I'm glad Descent's still alive.

Oh man, I never thought I'd live to see the day this happened. Let's hope gamesas decides to throw in some quality time for a D4...and let's hope it doesn't turn out like D3 haha.

Descent 3 is not just the first online game I played, but the longest lasting game I ever played online. With the Linux version of it now, and a patch, I plan to soon, once again, get in the fond games online with my descent friends.

Descent 1 was my first game. I used to show off the cinematics in Descent 2 to my friends. I played the D2 disc in CD players to hear the redbook audio when I could. Descent 3 came like a fresh breeze

I remember Decent was quite scary and claustrophobic when I played it the first time.

Great game! ...just another vault dweller.

Descent was the very first pc game I ever played. It came free with my first pc. From that moment on, I was hooked and haven't been without a pc since. 15 years ago or so. Absolutely loved this game. I liked it more than the follow ons. Also very glad to see gamesas back, one of my favourite game maker type thingies.

I've been playing Descent since the original D1 demo in '94, and I've been playing D3 online for a couple of years now... I've even been to a couple of Descent-related LAN events!

The Descent community has been part of my life, and a good part at that. 8-)

Long Live Descent!

I was sooo stoked to get my hands on Descent I. I think I was running it on my 80386 at the time with dos 5.x, i dont think i had 6.22 yet. I know it was afore win 3.1, or at least before I started using that os. I remember telling all my friends with computers to run out and buy it so we could play over the 14.4kbps modem connection. Ahh, it was nice stomping poor greg into the ground repeatedly with my joystick. (Had the hat controls set to move and strafe the ship, while he had a keyboard and mouse, hehe.) Descent replaced Terminal Velocity (apogee software) in my playtime. The golden age of computer games!

:) Signed up just to give a shoutout to the Descent series, my favorite games ever! I even bought the novels, how crazy is that! Batchfiles loading a tcp/ip stack and crashy beta versions of kalidos, minerva, those were the days!

I've been a fan since Level 7 boss bot in D1 kicked my rear end about a thousand times.

Too many times to count, I've shown Descent to someone I thought would like it, and they say... 'ooooh I could never play that, I'm getting dizzy just watching...". Or that the controls are to complex...

I saw descent 2 being played and I knew immediately I had to buy a computer. By the time that happened D3 came out and I was rockin with my celeron 500 boasting a voodoo 3 3500. LOL

Those were the days! Can't even begin to tabulate the hours I spent playing. Just brings back great memories!

Bring on D4!
