Ok, I am having problems. Until a few days ago, skyrim ran perfectly fine. 60 fps average without mods, 30 - 45 average fully kitted out with mods. Then a couple of days ago i loaded up my save to find my framerate had plummented to 5 - 15 frames per second. No windows updates, no driver updates, simply one day it worked, the next it did not. I fiddled, i tweaked, i begged and cajoled. I deleted skyrim and the ini's, i restarted with a fresh install, no mods, nothing, virgin install. 5 - 15 fps. Hmm.

I've tried other games, they are still fine. Metro Last Light, Dishonored, Shogun 2, Fallout New Vegas, minesweeper, all still as expected framerate. Just Skyrim. Only Skyrim. I am baffled.

Lets see, OS is WIndows 7 64, CPU is AMD Phenom II x6 1100t, RAM 8gig corsair ddr3, Graphic card is radeon hd7870 2gb.

Do you use a hard disk or an SSD?

Hi Whitestar, I run windows off a SSD, my games are on a conventional hard drive. I've tried moving skyrim from one to the other, same issues with both. Been testing further, the issue seems to be intermittent, wandering around riverrun with fraps giving me a fps counter, about a third of the time when i load the game its fine, i then quit and reload the same save and my framerate is about 1/4 again. I've tried disabling catalyst contorl centre and my anti-virus (i even tried dhutting down windows explorer out of desperation) to no effect.

Forget that, still not working.
