Decorating: Things don't fall through shelves anymore!

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 10:33 am

Not sure with other people's computers, but patch 1.3 fixed it so things don't fall through shelves anymore for me while adding the ability to manipulate grabbed items. It's such a small thing to add to the game & spend time fixing but for people like me who can spend several hours decorating their settlement(s) with the trophies from the wasteland, it's one of the best things Bethesda have done since releasing the game. Will post the results of my obsessive decorating up later...

Are you sure? Sometimes things seem to stay put for a while, then eventually drop through just when you thought they were safe.

If it is fixed its great news. Its one of my favourite ancillary activities in the game. I do it everywhere. When I'm not killing that is.

I'm guessing I've done about 10 fast travels away from my settlement since starting my settlement decorating with the patch update and exited the game about 4 times. It all stays there

I think this is brilliant news to many of us if it has but I shall not hold my breath just yet. Been burned like that before many a time.

I've held off on going too crazy with the more detailed aspects of settlement decoration because of this. Hopefully it's actually fixed. I've been running the beta patch (and now the full patch), but I haven't tried this yet. I'll have to give it a try and see how it's going on my end.

I think the issue was, if you used Workshop Mode to grab clutter and place it the bug would show up and things would fall through shelves. But when you just grab and place normally, which the patch made so much better, they're a lot less likely to fall.

The patch fixed it for me too - I've got several settlements with 'test rooms' I set up once I noticed that it wasn't happening anymore. So far, so good. I've played about 10 hours since setting up the rooms, many fast travels later and everything is still in the right place. Thank the Nine!

Didn't seem to work for me. Still can't get a globe to stay on a table.

For any of you that play on PC there is a mod called OCD decorator that esentally locks items into place via the workshop menu meaning they will never move/sink no matter what happens around them unless you move em again trough the workshop so if you are big on decorating and play on PC i wud strongly suggest using that mod.

I had my bar superbly arranged with grab-placed bottles.

Nothing dropping anywhere...

Then a Vertibird helped with a Raider attack

and crashed on my bar.

Oh dear...

No mods for us yet.. I daresay not in the near future either.. I would not be surprised if it was next year before it happens...
