Decorating your house --- impossible?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:59 am

haha you don't even know me so don't profess to kid. Also, Pete Hines has stated that multiplayer will NEVER happen and this isn't about multiplayer. I understand the desire to share your house with others but that is what youtube is for and this community is for. Take screenshots and whatnot. Saying that decorating your house is only useful for multiplayer is just a bad argument.

Look like I hit a soft spot there.

There is a reason why MMO's have taken off. People like to play games with others. Hang off the statement "multiplayer will never happen" but the truth is one day every game will offer multiplayer in some form. Im guessing the main reason why no multiplayer has ever been implemented is because of the cost of the extra (net)coding?, why spend more money to improve a product when there is already a solid market foaming for the bug filled unfinished game with each release? I do give thanks to Bethesda for leading the way and setting the standard for RPGs.

Same thing happened to me, took me an hour and a half to set everything right in my house, slept, and went out to go hunt some deer, walk back in to place the hide in my storage room, BOOM. All that time on placing, wasted. Never has Fus-Ro-Dah come in handy as much.

There will never be multiplayer in an ES.

i much rather enjoy playing single player rpg's, and decorating YOUR house is something alot of people like to do, even thou its not visable to others

-Placing throphy's
-PLacing unique weapons
-etc

it gives a feeling of progression, for your OWN

MMO's and RPG's are are totally diffirent, they both have a diffirent architecture to them, one caters to multiplayer experience, Balance, servers, costumer support 24/7, it all adds HUGE costs to the project
im glad The elder scrolls isnt a mmorpg, seeing how many new mmo's fail AND tes games are in nature great single player rpg's, great rpg's with flaws, becuz hey you cant have it all right?

Well, Bethesda insisted on expanding into new market segments. So they're obliged to support such requests as these now. Simple though as this thread might sounds.

Demographics, and those who used to prefer other games (such as sims). I wasn't thinking about platforms.

Considering this was widely done in Oblivion, Fallout and even Morrowind I don't understand people not accepting this is a legitimately crap bug that needs to be fixed.

ah ok, but as far as im aware Skyrim is still a RPG @ core, isnt really a sim thou

Placing objects in your home can be seen as sim like but its hardly working enough to call it simm like

Arcade RPG is more like it

( correct me if i dont fully understand your statements thou  )

Who cares, point is in Oblivion, Morrowind and Fallout a lot of decorated their houses, and now in Skyrim people try the exact same thing on basically the same engine and they get their stuff flying everywhere. The mechanic is tedious enough, at least make it as functional as it was in previous games.

I am bored, but I'm not looking for a fight. Just stating an opinion. Happy much?

PC users can do screenshots, but I get your point. It's pointless.

Bull %*#! Your a trouble maker.

If you bothered reading the whole thread, as I've outline in quoted posts below, you would have noticed someone had already expressed your limited sentiments and it was suggested he move on, then low and behold you come in and post the same junk, twice, and you keep checking on responses in a topic you obviously have no interest in. Thats not stating an opinion thats trolling, now shoo little knat and go find a button mashing topic more to your taste.

Yeah, umm... I get that you put forth some effort to place everything where you wanted, but the ability to manipulate objects doesn't really serve any purpose in the game. It's a minor perk, at best, and one we should feel fortunate to have. While the semi-realistic physics, which is the word I think you were looking for, are a notable feature of the game, saying that it's broken just because we can't place every item in the game exactly the way you want, or that they do or do not stay where you put them... well, that's hardly a game breaker. I find it pretty silly that anyone would even consider raising a complaint about it, in fact. There's a huge world full of stuff to do in Skyrim and here you are, nit-picking over not being able to set your silverware on the table. Wow. Talk about missing the point.

Sorry that a game of this magnitude can't satisfy your need to flex your interior decorator talents... maybe try The Sims 3? *shrug*

Why don't you decorate your real home in real life instead of wasting your time doing the same thing in a video game is beyond me...

Not really. No. It's a RPG, not a design-your-own house video game.

Drop everything on the floor. Leave the house. Come back into the house. Save. load and then decorate.

Decorating has gotten progressively worse in each Bethesda title since Morrowind. I blame the physics engine. Whenever I enter a home I can hear everything jostling each other for room, sticking out its tiny elbows, and shoving all the other stuff outta the way.

I'd really like to buy some of the home decorations, but until they work I'll just wait for a mod to fix things up. There's not much fun in placing everything inside chests and dressers where I don't get to see it.

Bottom line is people should be free to play the game how they want. The utter arrogance of those who put that down disgusts me. There is nothing more pathetic than saying "do it in real life instead". With that sort of mentality one shouldn't play games, watch tv, read a book or do anything which is unreal. Grow up.

problem is people ( mostly younger people) cant seem to grasp the idea of subjectivity and objectivity, and the idea that people have diffirent opinions

This happened to me with a lute in my Whiterun home. First, I placed it against the chest near the door. It took forever, because I had to grab it in the middle instead of in a place that makes sense. I left. When I returned, the lute had magically flown across the room. I thought that maybe when I opened the door, that caused it to move since it was close to it. Well, then I put it against a table (not near the door), and when I came back it was just gone. I really hope that they fix this. I got excited about decorating this time because of the racks and the bookshelves. Now, I'm not into it.

Actually I was trying to imply that my standing was neutral. And however having this idea implemented won't hurt anybody. And the responsibility falls to Bethesda for their direction of the series.

Sorry if there were some ambiguity. If any.

I'm in agreement with you Xreasons and Amused2death and I shouldnt let the young ones get to me, I just have my bull#!*% dectector on and feel the need to expose it when I see it. The OP came in with a legitimate glitch problem and ended up getting insulted for it. I havent bothered decorating yet because Im waiting for the patch. I dont do screens for everyone to drool over either, as was implied. I dont do social networking at all, I find it mundane and shallow. I simply do these things because I enjoy that part of the game as well as the quests and dragon slaying, it just adds variety and gives the game that Role Playing purity I seek. :liplick:
