Default FOV?

Post » Wed May 23, 2012 8:26 am

I've been tinkering with FOV settings both in game and in my prefs for a couple days now and I've forgotten (or never even knew in the first place?) what the default is. I need that as a baseline to help me decide on a final setting. Can someone throw me a bone? :D

Default FOV is 70.

Edit: Most people say between 60-75, it′s possible that the default is 75, but my friend told me console default is 70(And skyrim is a console port so yeah)

Edit2: A way to find out is when you get in-game and try to set the fov to 70 and see if it′s different, if it is then just close the game, start again and try another fov until it doesn′t change.

Thanks guys.

Right now I'm keeping it at 75. I don't really care what it is from a visual standpoint. I'm really more interested in walking speed. I know x speed = x speed no matter what your FOV is, but there's an illusion of faster or slower that's very much dependent on it. Higher FOVs make it seem as if you're moving faster, lower seems slower. I've been agonizing over the sluggish walking pace in this game, and the two mods which increase speed have some drawbacks (one isn't fast enough for my taste, and the other with the configurable app doesn't change all the settings so you end up slowing down and speeding up depending on POV and magic/weapon loadout). But I find I can tolerate even the vanilla walking speed if the FOV is set a little higher. But testing it at anything over 80 makes me feel like I'm playing the game through a fish-eye lens. Looks like 75 will have to be my happy medium until we get the editor some time in July 2015 and I can fine tune the speeds all I want. ;)

Thanks again.
