I sent the robot away (my bad) so I need to shore up defense. I've put up a guard tower and a machine gun turrent but it still says I need 5 defense. Also, do the ghoul bodies ever vanish?

Have you assigned any settlers to defense?

To move the bodies, hold down your use key when grabbing the body. Default set to ???, I changed mine to the right arrow key. It's the key set to pick up loose items, it acts like a grab key if you hold it down when picking up items. So you can drag the bodies away from the settlement, even the settler's body.

Here's a tip for people who can't move heavy dead bodies that can't be moved.

Find your self a tire and use it as a pusher,it will move the body faster.

There two tire up the hill passing the tent at west side.

There's one ghoul I couldn't move,it tells me its to heavy to move so I use the tire trick.

Also this trick can move dead skelotons in Sanctuary that you can't pick up to move them out of Sanctuary.

Don't bother with the bodies. I've moved all the bodies away and eventually they went back to their original position twice. If you're on PC, maybe you can use console to disable the bodies.

I just came back to the farm and yes there back again.

Dang it this like when you have those dead bodies in Skyrim at your houses,they just don't go away.

They should implement a some kind trash bin in your settlement menu to get rid of dead bodies.
