2 deficiencies left (character movement & exploration lo

Hello all ESO fans

I'm one of the loyal TES series enthusiasts & dedicated fan.

The main features (beside lore, quests and leveling) for every new TES game, that convinced and lured me in, and ''swallowed'' me in a immersive gameplay were:

1.) Graphics & environment; With every new TES game, graphic improvements were made (to character appearance buildings and environment), towards realistic look, rather than fantasy look - and that was and still is A BIG PLUS - because it's not like most other fantasy RPG game...

In ESO, devs did a great job at this, no argument here.

2.) Meaningful exploration (mainly for adventure & loot); In addition to quests, you could roam around, exploring vast areas... to find loot and resources... and this was ''the endless quest'' on its own...

3.) I'm refering mainly to Skyrim in this one: Great improvement in character movement animations... in every feature; It looks&feels like you're moving with your real weight (walking, running, weapon swinging...)

So, after some ESO Beta gameplays, as TES ''fanatic'', i really want to enjoy ESO as much as i enjoyed (and still do) other TES games.

So in my opinion (since we're close to ESO release), THERE ARE TWO MINOR IMPROVEMENTS that HAVE to be made, to convince & keep more of us TES ''[censored]'' arround and playing for a long long time... and these two things are:

Meaningful exploration (mainly for adventure & loot): In ESO, there should be MUCH MORE lootable crates, chests, plants... (even if the loot is minimalistic); So the ''adveturers'' would have a reason and motivation to go out and explore just for the fun of it. There's too much ''empty space'' in the vast areas in ESO...

Character movement animations: Character movement is the same as in every other MMO game and it feels childish, cartoony and immersion breaking (for the environment that ESO is representing); They should ''put much more weight'' in to the character movement (ala Skyrim), so it wouldn't feel so floaty, weightless and outdated.

What are your thoughts on this??

would you, also like to se this changes being made??

Would this improvements be hard to implement?

(Sorry for the colours, i just wanted some parts of the text to be pointed out...)

One of your points already has been addressed. There's gonna be way more loot-able and interact-able objects in the world. (See here for reference: http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1zvy7t/new_changes_coming_to_eso_including_phasing/))

The other is something that I hope will improve with time. I particularly dislike the stiff upper lips in facial animations, but I'm sure that's something they are still working on - or will return to work on.

The movement feels like a MMO/multiplayer game because it is. I think Skyrim's slow, plodding movement and animation-locked attacks would be annoying in PvP.

The weight issue, to me, is very important. It's one of my few true criticisms of the game so far, and while it isn't a deal breaker, solving it would take a huge weight off my heart.

Having my character feel like he weighs a lot is important, especially if he's in a suit of heavy armor. Jumping, alone, looks ridiculous (of course it has in every skyrim game I've played). Many people can jump with a significant amount of weight strapped to them. As a gym-aholic, I've got a three foot vertical leap with a 50lb weight vest, and I'm already 225 (thank you squats!). But I have to prepare and my vertical motion and speed is significantly impacted by the weight.

In game, this just isn't happening. The moment my characters feet leave earth, whether I'm a 90 elf or a 300 nord, I get the feeling like I'm about to defy gravity, with that slow pause at the top and controlled desent.

Running has the same issues. So does swinging a sword. Combat feels so unrewarding because it doesn't feel like your really hurting anything. It's all just animation and sound, not a coding issue, but it plagues our mind that something isn't right.

Here's to hoping they eventually resolve it.

I still think faces should be looked at.

I found it quite disturbing that, in my EB char, while I was killing DC incendiaries (only ones with faces visible), some would bug and stay in the same place, and when i zoomed in the, females at least, had this big smile and no change to it at all...

It creeped the [censored] out of me, all I could think is that they had a "face mask", felt really wierd.

They should be more diverse and far less joyfull or at least have some facial expressions...

+1

i think it'a all in animation too...

Character movement is ''old school'' outdated (i know some mmo veterans are used to it but this movement animations are ten years old...)

and it looks childish (and silly), compared to other ''mature'' features in this game.

The movement animation not realistic enough, and it doesn't go with all the ' realistic look'' of ESO's environment.

And i'm not saying it should be as ''slow'' as in Skyrim... but more realistic... (and Skyrim is the best example)

Beside the gorgeous environment, the only ''constant thing'' that you see is your character and his/yours movement.

Devs did a great job at creating nice looking armors,...

Why have a great looking armor on a ''goofy'' moving character?

Why the ''emotes animations'' are so realistic...?... and the regular movement is... soo cartoony?

I guess I don't see what you mean. Can you find any video examples of other MMOs or competitive multiplayer games that you like?
