has anyone else ever perked into this and thought it was useful?

I did and I dont see how it would do much to save my life when i can just dodge the arrows and rush in and hit the person in the face with my axe.....

Usually archers hit you while you're distracted fighting someone else. Not all fights are one-on-one.
