Deja Vu

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:16 pm

Ok this is really really weird. I've been having deja vu for over an hour straight now, everything I do or think about I get deja vu....and it's really freaking me out. Has this happened to anyone else here? Anyone know what would have triggered it?

Me too

And I'm being serious. haha

It's really bugging me, like even just opening a webpage that I see every single day just triggers something, for instance facebook. My friend has had the same picture up for her profile pic for about a month, yet when I saw it 5 minutes ago I had the feeling like I had just seen it for the first time again.

Joking aside, I have it from time to time. Just the other day as a matter of fact. I was talking to my friend and it was like I already had the convo. But never for like an hour straight.

That happens to me all the time, but this is the first time that its been for this long. It started while listening to some instrumental songs by Immediate Music, they all sounded similar, maybe that triggered it?

I hear if you are having deja vu, then you are in a dream. Maybe try pinching yourself or take a cold shower to wake yourself back up.

I just took a cold shower.... and I just slapped myself. I'll wait a bit and see if it worked.

Do you remember slapping yourself before?

Can't déjà vu be associated with certain neurological disorders?

Can't déjà vu be associated with certain neurological disorders?

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Deja_vu#Links_with_disorders:
The strongest pathological association of déjà vu is with temporal lobe epilepsy.https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Deja_vu#cite_note-6https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Deja_vu#cite_note-pnoegm-7 This correlation has led some researchers to speculate that the experience of déjà vu is possibly a neurological anomaly related to improper electrical discharge in the brain. As most people suffer a mild (i.e. non-pathological) epileptic episode regularly (e.g. a hypnagogic jerk, the sudden "jolt" that frequently, but not always, occurs just prior to falling asleep), it is conjectured that a similar (mild) neurological aberration occurs in the experience of déjà vu, resulting in an erroneous sensation of memory. For someone who regularly has such seizures, there is typically a feeling of déjà vu associated with whatever sensations (particularly sounds) may be occurring nearby.

what usually happens is you actually have a real moment of deja vu, then you become not so much paranoid but aware that it happened, and your brain starts thinking everything is deja vu. It happens to me all the time dude. you're fine! just don't think about it, and it more then likely will stop.

I'm starting to think that events that happen in the present can sometimes be embedded into a memory in the past. I get multiple deja vu's and it's really annoying!
