Delay in Release Date for Crysis 2 Explained !!!

Post » Thu Dec 10, 2009 8:17 am

Hey people, just been again to check my retail outlet for Crysis 2 pre order, Still no word, :-(
took out my frustration by Blowing up some more stuff on Crysis Warhead, and found out why the delay.
While reading some of the newspapers found here and there, in Crysis warfare, I found one newspaper, called,
"Time Wasting News"
An article of particular note at the bottom of page states,

"Part Of Game Developer Team Missing"
this goes on to claim
"They just seemed to dissapear"

Now we know why its taking so damm long to get a release date for Crysis 2, its because they still havn't found the missing staff yet. !
Lmao, :-))

I actually hope the game is delayed to March 2011. I want Crytek to do the best they possibly can with Crysis 2 before it ships!

I agree with Talon, Crysis is my all time favourite game. I'd rather see it come out done rather than another god of war 3 where it was released to soon and had a **** ending.

I both agree and disagree.
I agree because I too want the game to be perfect when released. I disagree, because it hink they could achieve much more by having an open beta.[/quote]I wonder if that would work, assuming you mean open to all, and that would mean lots of people just getting a run at the game with no input, so they dont have to buy if they dont like, and loads of people flooding flooding crytek with lots of nothing, and then lots of people giving valuable input.
I ran the windows 7 beta, this started open beta, but was soon limited for the above reasons in the most basic sense, hope you dont think im picking, thats just my understanding of it,
You only need look at week 2/3 the very many posts expecting and almost demanding the beta, as if it was promised to everyone who shouted out, to get some idea what I mean, personally I will be more than happy when i have pre-ordered down the store, :D

You can delay the game and still have an extensive beta you know. ;)

I think the beta should be limited to pre orders, as this makes you atleast partially commited and you care about the game. :)

I want a delay. Every Crytek title EVER has always been delayed though, so I have hope! If the game is anything like this website, its really gonna need a delay. ^^

+1 to Guss600!

I think the real reason is that they finally figured out that their console port isn't going to fly with PC gamers, and so they are now hurriedly trying to come up with something that will.

I have played plenty of games that released on time that were really fun and worked perfectly. It is a super strange comment to me that you would like something to be delayed. Thats what we have patches and DLC for. shipping gold is no longer the final tweak in todays information age. we are all fanboys with our own expectations of what it will be so lets just wait and see. I'm sure I will enjoy what ever they put out, im not too hard to please. from the footage I saw, i think we'll be satisfied. and honestly people are going to complain anyway, no matter how great it is.

will it be perfect, no. will it help us escape our normal boring lives, probably. will my neighbors complain about the loud battle sounds coming from my living room at 2 in the morning, absolutely. so don't worry, enjoy what you get and you'll always be happy.

Exactly what I was going to say, took the words right outta' my mouth!

If truth be told, how long has it been since Crysis 2 was announced? It was some time ago, but they've had much time before that (When CryEngine 3 was in development). I can assume some of the assets we've seen have been made some time ago as well. So partly, this game was already in development before it even got announced.

But even if it gets delayed, I'm not fussed at all.

Even if it's not perfect upon launch, seeing we're talking about EA, they'll most probably release a 0day patch, and by the third patch the game should be flawless. :)

You guys are forgetting how glitchy and incomplete Crysis was after 3 years in development, delays, and extensive betas. The game only got two patches and lost its population by then because of the 8,000 bugs and incomplete multiplayer. Crysis Wars lost its population because of an incomplete game, and that was after delays...

I'm not going to assume that Crysis 2 will be patched multiple times to its beauty. Crytek is notorious for terrible patching. I think the game needs to be delayed so it can be the best it can be content wise, and fix up some bugs as well. I can't assume Crytek will do a good patch job, because their history begs to differ.

With a game delay to March 31, 2011, you will be getting additional content along with a smoother game. You can't say you don't want more guns? ;)

Finally the Virgin isp releases its views on Crysis 2, heres a snippet,
________________________________________________________
There is a feeling that Crysis 2 breaks with the past, perhaps even a hint of a reboot. It takes place about three years after Crysis - a deliberate attempt to separate the stories a little bit. The aliens from the first game have expanded their conquest, overrunning the major cities of the world. " Nathan promises to resolve some of the questions and plot threads left open at the end of the first game", but, he insists, Crysis 2 tells an entirely new story that newcomers will be able to enjoy without having played its predecessor. For console only gamers, this will be a godsend. Crysis, somewhat surprisingly, was never released on the Xbox 360 or PS3.
Also
Crysis 2, EA and Crytek's multi-platform follow-up to the hit graphical showcase from 2007, will be released this autumn. That's according to an add placed by EA in the current issue of trade publication MCV.

The game had previously been pegged for release in "holiday 2010", but an autumn window means the shooter should be in stores between September and November 2010.
Find all the info including the supposed release date 24th Sept, and links to other Crysis 2 stuff, most of this will have been seen, but check it out for extras anyway.

@Talon, don't forget also that Crytek is working with EA, while not my favorite because of their assembly line mentality, they tend to ship quality product. Also, Crytek was a relatively new company when they started Crysis 1, I have seen their roster and they have about 5 times the staff now and they are all really solid programmers and artist. Which reminds me, I think that Crytek purchase the time splitter studios sometime ago, i wonder if they are going to make another one. time splitters had a great mapping tool for consoles too soooo....yeah, theres that.

Well, again I have to back Talon on what he said above. I don't know if you ever played Crysis or even Wars when they first came out, but they were horribly buggy. Even memory leaks. Not to mention people like Longpoke found that the game was completely unprotected from any hacking attempts. You could even bring down the servers with some simple exploits. All the patches from Crytek only fixed a few things. It was the community programmers banding together in the end to make anti-hack programs like SSM that saved the day. Without them, Wars would have completely died. Its not fun when some joker comes on to play and kills everyone on the map with one single shot.

Timesplitters studio is working on the Crysis 2 Multiplayer. ;)

Crytek was not a new company when they made Crysis... Crytek made Far Cry in 2004 prior to developing Crysis. I forget when they were founded, but they were well established prior to Crysis. :)

@Talon95,
Crytek was a "" relatively"" new company, this is true?
@Kuro6
Yes I also played many titles going way back before Crysis. most of those titles had some or most of the problems that you point toward, but were still released, and patched later
I have to say, Even Microsoft with all the recource to hand, have been hacked, better hacked and Hacked again, they find most of the weaknesses from being hacked. :D

@Talon, you know there are times when you realy confuse me, on other posts, different dates you can seem like Cevat Yerli's best friend, and sing high praise for Crytek, wich is cool, but on other days your realy quite hostile about the whole dang thing,
Also you have said your rig is busted, just out of couriosity, what res are you watching on, I know its prolly a bad question, but you know, just in case, ??
Hacking hits plenty of titles also, as do bugs, thats a long standing fact my friend, I hope that Crytek resolve your worries soon.
I just put this rig together Nov last year, I was suprised at how many game glitches that alone cured, hell I even miss the humour in some of those prior glitches,
One other way to look at this.
sooner they put the game out, the sooner you can tear the hell out of it , or bow to the Crytek team for the efforts, the latter I hopee. :D
