Delayed Arrow Release

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 2:03 am

Several times now I've had a delayed release of the arrow.

It usually fires correctly with the very next arrow. Anyone else had this or know what it might be?

Framerate/stutter/"lag"? What system?

I've definitely had something similar on Oblivion and Fallout, I think... press the fire button and it chops for a second before the bullet/arrow releases?

Skyrim runs fairly smooth at this point with very little lag or stutter. I am running several 1024 texture packs along with the HD DLC (loaded thru the ini).
Between 50-60 fps almost everywhere. Vsync enabled. 4XAA ingame and 16XAF thru CCC. All settings/sliders maxed except shadows on high.

Level 30 or so character. Just started happening in the last 2 days. It's always the first arrow in a new encounter and all subsequent arrows release normally.

I think its a bug in their game engine. That same bug was in Oblivion when firing an arrow, the animation would delay and the arrow would shoot wierd/messed up. Im guessing it must of carried onto Skyrim, because its still happening, and both games essentially use the same engine, just Skyrims is more updated and polished.

Also,I've noticed ALOT of things have a weird delay in Skyrim sometimes.

Sound effects sometimes take a while to play or dont sync correctly with the action, some keep looping for no reason (Elemental Fury,a Dragons Fire breath, etc.)

And even magic sometimes doesn't play the animation correctly. I've shot a couple lightning bolts before and it doesn't even show the lightning bolt animation,it'll only show the impact animation when it hits a wall or enemy.

Wish they would fix these glitches..

You must be talking about something else.....this is an actual glitch.

If you shoot an arrow, sometimes the animation will have a delay and the arrow wont fire until 1 or 2 seconds later.
Your character will fire the bow,but the actual arrow wont shoot out of the bow until later.

Had it when I used a bow a LOT, nowadays I only use it as a last resort when running away drained of magicka. But yes, first shot is delayed, after that it's fine. Never noticed it in Oblivion as the bows were awful!

Are you on the PC? Try the Beta Patch, it helps with this.

This started about a week ago. I'm on the PC and have subscribed to the beta.

I pull the arrow back and it just pops out and falls about 10 feet in front of me. Very frustrating when a cave bear is charging you. Sometimes it will do this 2 or 3 times in a row before the bow starts working right again. I have been assuming that the beta patch caused it.

I just realized....there IS one thing I added to my configuration just before this delayed arrow bug started happening.
I added an FPS limiter....Bandicam to be exact. And I left Vsync still active.

Could it be that this is a factor?
