Delayed mouse movement

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 1:25 pm

So I bought Skyrim for pc after playing it for a long time on PS3. However, I'm having a problem with my mouse cursor not keeping up with my movements. It's movement is delayed for a half a second. Really irritating.

My mouse is a Hama (don't know the model number) and my laptop is an MSI GE60.

I don't have any problems with FPS so I don't why I'm having this problem.

Anyone here who has any advice?

Try making the following changes to your SkyrimPrefs.ini file, located in the My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder. Make a backup of it first just to be safe.

1. Find this line -

bGamepadEnable=1

and change it to -

bGamepadEnable=0

2. Find this line -

bGamePadRumble=1

and change it to -

bGamePadRumble=0

Save the changes and then try the game.

Another thing you could also try is to disable the mouse acceleration in the SkyrimPrefs.ini

Open that up, look for the bmouseacceleration=1 line, change it to 0. That is what I did and helped, not sure if it will for you but worth a shot :)

Thanks a lot guys! I tried both your suggestions and it really helped. :) I feel like I can play this game now.

Still, I feel like i have a mouse delay of 1 nanosecond (it's noticeable if I'm being picky about it). It's not bad at all and the game is completely playable so it's not a big deal.

But is there anyone who has any suggestions for the finishing touch? :)

V-sync enabled usually causes a little mouse lag in games, but i don't recommend disabling it in Skyrim because it messes up game physics (or so i have heard). By enabling Triple Buffering can fix mouse lag with V-sync enabled.

So try enable Triple Buffering in nvidia control panel.

I've looked everywhere but I can't seem to find the option for it.

If you use a wireless mouse, some of the lag could come from that.

Yes, it is a wireless mouse. But I find it kinda strange if Skyrim is the only game that should be affected by that. Or does it have a reputation from doing so?

Eh, it can vary by program. Personally, I've had nothing but issues with wireless mice so yeah. /shrug

Yes, but I would think it would be consistent. I've never had any issues with wireless devices (mice and keyboard) so I don't understand how it would suddenly be a problem with Skyrim. I may be completely wrong though.
