MQ delayer, or Alternate Identity after MQ completion

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 1:38 pm

Hello everyone, i want to make this poll to see how many people would like to just adventure without the penalty of MQ, because for some people like me, i like to roleplay a necromancer, and thats seems strange if your the hero of the world and skyrim, making your true role that you want to play impossible, everytime you talk to someone it's, oh im so honoured, your the hero of skyrim, this would seriously screw with my immersion, and never let me feel like the character im trying to portray, so i was hoping bethesda could create a MQ delayer option, or after completion of the game have a choice to assume an alternate identity, so the people of skyrim wouldnt know me for my virtues, and an alternate identity would be better than a MQ delayer, because i would like to collect all the dragon shouts, as well as certain items, only obtainable through MQ completion, i know some people wont agree with this but im sure theres others like me and think this would be a great idea, i just think that aside of the MQ this game has much more value than to just be a part of a cliche, and the potential is limitless, if i dont want to be a hero, but a dark sorcerer i should have that right, and since the game is massive with thousands of things to do and places, it would be a perfect roleplaying world and environment, that shouldnt have to be subjected to a certain title and role that i do not care much for.

I played Morrowind a number of times without touching the main quest and there were no penalties for doing so. Same with Oblivion - on my second play through and I have been nowhere near those Oblivion Gates. I assume that Skyrim will be the same.

You are always only given the start of the story and you decide what your character did in past and what he wants to accomplish. So you play a Necromancer who found himself in this situation and unless Skyrim throws you into the MQ (something that neither MW nor OB did), you can either go into the MQ or do whatever you want and start the MQ later (if ever in which case you can imagine that someone else later started it and did it in your world... what I usually do with my side characters: they do their quests while my main character does the MQ and his quests).

Tough I don't see a problem: why would a Necromancer mind being hailed as a Hero of Skyrim? After all, wouldn't he prefer to be liked rather then hated because that would allow him to roam around freely? If you imagine a Necromancer finding himself in this situation, you can craft his story easily. What gamesas probably should do is to make the characters react differently to infamous heroes then to famous heroes (for example, a hero who is known to be vicious would not be as liked by populace).

Same here, however oblivion more or less forced you to enter them god forbidden gates, they were everywhere and very annoying.

Think the dragons work the same way however maby they will feel a bit more rewarding to kill since you need their blood to get dragonshouts.

I cant understand why are you people are so worry about your evil caracters.
For example my caracter will be a night blade,he will kill, steal, blackmail ..etc and still he will save the world, because if you are not going to save Skyrim soon a whole world will be destroyed.
He will do this not for people of Skyrim, but for himself.
Why it has to be him? Well if you want get things done properly,do it by yourself.

They appear only once you finish Kvatch. Since no quest sends you there (besides the Mw of course), just don't visit Kvatch (don't even bring the amulet to Jauffre until you want to start the MQ... you can pretend that you hit the ceiling and got amnesia (personally, my character was a bastard who wanted the invasion to start so he delayed bringing the Amulet to Jauffre :P))

Well there weren't any gates until you got a bit into the Main Quest so that was more your fault than BGS.

This.

Morrowind MQ Delayer: Don't seek out Caius Cosades and deliver the Coded Package to him.

Oblivion MQ Delayer: Don't take the Amulet of Kings to Jauffre.

Or, as some folks are so fond of saying relative to any other request for real options rather than "Bethesda-Options": "Don't like it, don't use it."

As for "Alternate Identity" stuff- I really hope that whole Cowl of Nocturnal thing was an amusing one-off myself.

What Rohugh said. Plus, if you have a computer, someone will end up making an alternate origin mod.

This.

Oblivion sorta shoved it down your throat in the tutorial, but I think that was mostly to add some momentum to the story for new players. No big deal.

Though I wouldnt be apposed to an alternate start for "secondary" characters.
