A Demo, When and How

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 5:52 pm

Since, there's finally Sp footage. Which is totally awesome and sleek,
Thanks to the new "Be the weapon Trailer", it should be a hint that Sp is almost done. And in many popular games, rather than a slightly risky beta, why not a demo of just one level to play for all platforms.

For Pc: A benchmarking opportunity and chance to see if they're rig can handle/maximize it.
For Xbox 360: A worthwhile re-playable experience....
For Ps3: A chance to finally play it....

The only decision left to make, is When will a demo be appropriate ?
And How, is up to you guys?

The way everything is going I don't think we are going to have a demo.
This, was just too concerning.... yet, its possible though.

What would happen, if it was a console demo? Anything wrong with it?

1st off, a console demo usually costs a bit of money
im up for an Sp demo..tas all..

also found this::
( Crysis 2 publisher EA was recently the subject of much controversy for plans to release premium demos “for $10 or $15” before a game’s final release.)

! if its true, it better be available on local stores, or retail; downloading is one problem, paying online is another. 1f crytek is reading this, im willing to pay for the demo, if its readily available in my hands !!! tnx in advance. :D

As stated before: "! I like your point, safer better than risky !"

I like this point too :), I'd even fold for paying $20 just for an Sp Demo (Pc) if it meant, to play Crysis 2.

I say very late february or early march so that the idea of Crysis 2 being awesome is still stuck in peoples minds...

January is too early, that is more appropriate for a beta release and not a Release Candidate demo in my opinion. ;)

This but January is too late. I would think they would announce a beta right about now if there was one.

A demo in Early February would be a little to early for my blood. So I agree with Talon95, mid-late Feb is great and even early march is fantastic

I don't think a demo will be out. I read in an article somewhere that the CEO of crytek doesn't believe demos will add to the popularity of their game because (apparently) demos takes months to complete, time that they should spend developing their actual game. A beta, through, is functional as it provides feedback on balancing and on issues. Or they could do a beta-demo like in BFBC2 - it was a demo but was used to tune up servers as well.

True, somewhat, yet also kind of depressing....

But, I kind of like this idea. Maybe useful for Crysis 2, if ever possible....

^To see what the MP is like, in our eyes.

But I prefer an SP demo. Or, we could have both and MP and SP Demo together, it would be better.
