Daggerfall was my first. Never finished it though. Played, and loved, Morrowind. Enjoyed Oblivion, but Morrowind is still my favorite.

Played Arena when I was 6 but that doesnt count, I guess I'll have to go with Morrowind since I was old enough then to actually play it without my half brothers help.

Morrowind has always been my favorite but I find myself playing Oblivion more but its heavily modded.

Started with Oblivion, worked my way backwards to Morrowind, which is now my favorite, and Daggerfall.

I started with Morrowind, then went to Oblivion. I've beat Oblivion completely. Morrowind however, I've never been able to conquer completely. Morrowind is still my top favorite.

Played Arena when it came out loong ago. Liked it but never finished it(really loved the huge citys).
Then forgot to try Daggerfall when it came out.
Was really stoked to try Morrowind when it came out, but it failed miserably. The world was completely DEAD. Arena felt much more alive.
Got Oblivion and loved it. Especially when modded :) Best game so far in the series.

Morrowind -> Oblivion -> Daggerfall -> Arena

I absolutely hate Arena, but the other three are awesome for their own reasons. But Morrowind is my favorite.

Morrowind was the first "real" RPG I played (not counting games like Zelda and Anarchy Online which are great in their own respect). Despite its large atmospheric pull (I'm a svcker for 'mood') I could never get into it enough to keep playing after so-so many levels and a few fresh starts - the 'mood' of the game still had me hooked. Oblivion pulled me in at once and Ive played that on and off since the day of release. I'm currently playing Morrowind and the issues of the past are gone with my highest character ever at level 21. Still going strong.

Oblivion remains my favourite of the two, but who knows, that could change in the future once I spend some more time with Morrowind and finish up some crucial quests; quest lines completed so far: Zero

Edit: Structure and added a smiley :o

Arena- For a DOS era CRPG it was utterly incredible; not the first with 3D (that kudo belongs to Ultima Underworld), but the first to get out of the dungeon and into a world you could explore.

Daggerfall- OMFG. The gold standard, despite the bugs and unfinished features.

Battlespire- A good little addition to the series, but got chomped by the VESA video issues.

Redguard- A lot of fun....if you were a luddite and still had Glide and not DirectX.

Morrowind- Changing the environment and culture out of standard Euro-CRPG territory was brilliant. The disappointment was playing on the island of Varnenfell, and not in Morrowind Province itself. I really wanted to see what the dark elves home was like...... Excellent use of shaders.

Oblivion- Very nice tech; personally, I find the vocal scripting a bit too limiting vis-a-vis the story. You can store libraries in the same space a single set of vocal responses can be housed in.

Personal favorite is DF; its big, and open. Combine Daggerfall's features with Oblivion's engines, and you would have the ubergame....but I like them all.

I don't know what to ansver, I played morrowind on xbox first, a friend had it, and I was lost in it, I svcked hopelessly(I was 10 or something like that :P ), but just the huge world and everything in it made it awesome, I thought it was the most detailed game I had ever played, and it felt so endless, it was at the time I got lost inside vivec, and ventured far into the ashlands without a way back, getting 1-hit by mystical, seemingly godly monsters, searching out every house, everything. The game was the most fun that time, is just was epic.

I got oblivion when it came out, played it at the same friend(He's a huge video game freak, I normally don't play many videogames, only select few I REALLY like) Played it a lot, and it was very fun, after some time I decided to get morrowind, remembering it very clearly, how huge and awesome it was for me that time. It never got the same, though, not as epic, not as endless, but I still like it a lot better.

First Game:
The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion

Is this your fav:

Yes

Why

I played Morrowind after so I could take a look at some of the older games and was put off it from the combat. Also, I prefered the landscape of Cyrodiil more, but the skills were not as good in Oblivion.

What order did I play:
Was introduced to one of the newer games Oblivion first, then went back to try the older games.

I started with Arena when it first came out. I never finished it, and I was a bit too young to grasp all the indepth tabletop RPG elements, but I loved the open style of the world. I was content just to wander round without doing any real quests. Daggerfall was my true love - I played it obsessively, not surprising since I was in that 12-13 year old stage where you just throw your heart and soul into things. I played it on and off for about six years, knew the story and all the major characters off by heart, and when Morrowind came out I was so excited I could hardly get the packaging off. I was initially disappointed it didn't include any Daggerfall characters, but I was svcked in anyway and ended up loving it just as much as the previous game. I played it solidly up until Oblivion came out.

It's hard to pick a favourite. They are all so different, but at the same time, I feel like they are all just part of one huge game, so to pick one seems unnecessary. There were things I did and didn't like about each, but in the end they are all part of the same game-world that I love.

Daggerfall was my first TES experience, and still my favorite. Went on to play Battlespire, Morrowind and Oblivion, in that order. Still hoping one day Beth will release Redguard on Steam or for free.

Of the newer TES games, I enjoyed Morrowind most.

Started on Morrowind, and then went to Oblivion. Both great games, but I like Morrowind more. Sadly, I've never gotten the chance to play the previous games.

I started with Daggerfall, then I went to the other old games such as Arena, Battlespire, and Redguard. When Morrowind came out, I immediately got it. Same with Oblivion, except that it was an extreme disappointment for me, considering today I'll only rarely play it with at least 120 mods active to fix everything broken. Daggerfall is still my favorite, then Morrowind in a very close second. Arena third, Battlespire fourth, Oblivion fifth, Redguard sixth. I just hope TES: V can match Morrowind and Daggerfall. Even Daggerfall's manual, box, and CD case were brilliant.

Although officially Morrowind was my first TES game, I "played" it once when I wasn't a real gamer. I just walked around getting, lost in Balmora and stealing a house (which I kept loosing!). But first first TES was which I played actively was Oblivion which I got back in '06.

Started with Oblivion, loved it and the ES universe then borrowed MW from a friend... after that I really couldn't play Oblivion seriously because of the obvious flaws it has in comparison to the MW.

Needless to say MW is my favourite.

I love the randomness of mayhem. I want things to be unpredicatable and anything can happen. Not like in Oblivion *Puts on PG-13 face* OK, everything is going to be alright. This is what's going to happen you will become master of the fighters guild. Master of the Thieves Guild. The listner for the Dark Brotherhood. Then you're going to save the world and become "emperor". Everything will fall into place and be so perfect. Oh, jee goly.

I started playing Morrowind back around 2003/2004 on the Xbox. Having never played an RPG before I was horribly confused at first but I was able to figure it out and I soon found myself addicted to it, and I'm even more addicted now that I finally have the PC version. I wasn't able to play Oblivion until earlier this year when I finally got a PC powerful enough to run it. It's a great game and I have a lot of fun playing it, but Morrowind is defiantly the better game. I'm now in the process of installing and playing Arena and Daggerfall, but I haven't yet gotten far enough in either of those games to comment on them.

I'd have to agree with this statement.
Oblivion is too much of a cliche hero story.
Become king of the world sorta thing.
Not dark enough, although i liked the game, it didn't have the edge.
