Dents Scraqes Cuts Burns

Post » Fri Sep 24, 2010 6:36 am

I think it's about time for attacks visually damage armor, cloth, flesh (scars).
Spell damage as well. Also accumulating dirt/blood could be washed and dented and cut apparel could be repaired.

Yeah, but not permanent. In Fable, scars wouldn't go away and you looked fugly as sin.

yes i agree that this would be nice but lets be realistic its more than likely not going to happen. i mean that would take a ton of effort to do. so no its not going to happen. lets not overhype this game too much like people did for halo reach. we are only goin to be disappointed with all that we want

I would like it on armor, but I think content should be more important, maybe a mod for this can come out
I would like it very much, I just think bethesda should focus on other things

I would like to see some visual degeneration in the weapons and armor. Kinda like in farcry 2 how weapons would start getting scratched and lose paint then eventualy start getting rusty and obviously less reliable(for ES it would prolly not be as sharp after all that time and deal less damage or for armor be less effective) and would go back to normal after you fix them. As for the character themself it would be alright to show some form of bleading or scraqes and bruises but they would go away after healing and giving it a few mins.

Like in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cmQfcJ29VI video just not that fast

yeah, that would be pretty sweet. To lighten the load I would say it wouldnt be permanent or custom to the damage you take, but linkd to the armor's level of degradation.

Yes, I'd support it. More as a gameplay element than as fancy graphics - I don't really care if the armor is damaged exactly where the enemy hit it, as long as it's damaged visually. That could get us rid of one more bar, the equipment 'health' bar, and help further minimize the HUD (assuming it's to be "on" by default) and add immersion (just like old games in modern settings had health bars for cars, and nowadays the damage is usually directly visible; you know how badly damaged your car is by looking at it without anything disturbing your suspension of disbelief).

I'd like to see it. It wouldn't have to be in the exact place and time where my sword slashed, but it would be nice to see. Hell, they could even make a minigame where you mend your stuff. Run a sword over a sharpening wheel, stuff like that. Though that might get repetative after a while and you just wished it was like repair in fallout. Eh, I could go either way on that, but I would like to see my stuff take damage.

Dulling blades! didn't think of that!! It would be cool if they chipped and SHATTERED too!
Also the repair minigame is a good idea... just have an auto skip function, but you would never get it quite as sharp that way!

Well yes, Halo Reach was overhyped but it was still an amazing game. Same will go for Skyrim. Almost every game is overhyped. Players do that, they want alot and then get it in their minds that they will get it and then are disappointed when they don't.

I'd rather have more weapons and spells to cause these with, truthfully.

Completely depends on how its handled. I don't want to have to go use "injury kits" or stuff like that every time a mudcrab gets in a lucky swipe and suddenly my hand is cut open. Scars, etc, should be handled like the blood on the swords in Oblivion: there briefly, then vanishing. Clothing/weapon damage would be good, though, showing the degradation of your sword over time.
