Describe Almalexia

Post » Mon Aug 30, 2010 12:33 am

We know a lot about Vivec through his writings. Sotha Sil has less material, but its fairly easy to peg him as the classic reclusive intellectual - a classic INTP. His metaphysical side is that of the strange attractor as represented in his machinery. Almalexia is somewhat less fleshed out. What we have to go on is the fact she went nuts at the end, her nymphomania, and the "Blessed Homilies of Almalexia". The last is clearly very pre-chewed and probably gives as much insight into Almalexia as Saryoni's sermons provide for Vivec. Is Mercy inherently less interesting, or is there a deeper side we were never given insight into?

Evil. sixy. [censored].

And a god -- that tends to help with the whole "warrior queen" thing. I'd say that's about the depth of her personality.

Vain. Conceited. Certainly I see her desire to maintain her Chimer appearance as a way for her to assert her divinity, whereas Vehk decided to be a walking Chimdude paradox and Seht embraced the change. Crazy lady. :ninja:

Evil. sixy. [censored].

Needs to invest more points into the proper lipstick application skill.

She's similar to her Anticipation Boethiah in many ways; a proud, very manipulative and scheming warrior type.

Not that this says much about Almalexia's personality, but I've recently got it into my head that Ayem is the most relevent of the Three to the Dunmer people. While Sotha Sil cared a lot about the big picture and broad strokes and the fate of Morrowind, he wasn't necessarily very warm and fuzzy to the people. Vivec, conversely, chased after very lofty, royal ideals and kinda was focused on the fate of the Dunmer people. However, it was Almalexia who actively looked after the Dunmer people. Was most down to earth and approached by the Three, who actively healed and cared for her people. Those actions would then put her, in the Dunmer's minds, if not as the chief member of the Tribunal, then certainly as their favorite and most trusted.

She also embodies an awful lot of the Dunmer's characteristics.

StongFrong and Mehrunes Dagon have a good idea of what I'd also say what Almalexia is like. Ultimately, the biggest thing I'd say about her is that she is extremely vain and is an attention [censored].

I think what drove her mad was her inability to be the perfect mother-protector of her people. Though she was snake-faced and vain, her faults weren't so worse than our own. How many people did a certain agent of the Emperor step on to become the Nerevarine, and was the end worth it?

Vivec did say that she always took godhood very seriously and tended to brood. After being cut off from access to the heart by Dagoth Ur around the end of the Second Era, her powers waned from being a powerful goddess capable of holding her own against Mehrunes Dagon to the point where she couldn't even defeat a mortal (even if it wasa very, very powerful mortal). Heck, if her Hands all went postal at once, she'd have been screwed. And she seemed to be in denial of the loss of her own power.

How many people did a certain agent of the Emperor step on to become the Nerevarine, and was the end worth it?

Depends on who's playing :P

Good posts in this thread. I once thought the Tribunal were big-hearted adventurers in the beginning, before they lost access to the Heart of Lorkhan and became recluses. When your Nerevarine meets Vivec, he's living like a monk in an empty palace that's probably symbolic of what the Tribunal had become. Remember how there was no treasure in the palace when your character finally enters it in "Morrowind"?

I could never say it better than http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/nu-hatta.shtml:

Almalexia: "Hnnnh. Kyne and Mara and Dibella and sixteen Daedric elements: all contributed to the snake-faced queen when she touched the drum. Their sum? A Beauty Cala as none have seen. Cala! Wetness of Kingdom!"

Now if that doesn't get you hot, nothing will.

Still, she was kind of a [censored] at the end of the day.

Vanilla Almalexia actually conforms very strongly to an ancient Greco-Roman standard of female beauty. Many statues of Aphrodite and other Greek goddesses have facial features similar to hers. It's only in recent years that a "softer, rounder" face has become the defining beauty for a woman.

There's nothing really wrong with the design of the face, but her grotesque body and low-res textures are what makes her ugly.

She actually looks like http://www.imperial-library.info/gallery/mw_TAoM_p24.jpg. She's reclined and awaiting Dagoth Voryn, incase you're unsure. Always refer to the concept art.

I guess the semi nvde figure was supposed to imply what the tech couldn't.

If you play Tribunal before the main quest, she also sounds hallucinatory and unhinged, as she rants about you being Nerevar despite having no evidence to back that up. Nice one devs....

I always assumed that she could sense that the player is the Nerevarine, and since she's insane and the Nerevarine is the incarnation of Nerevar, she could easily "mistake" the player for him.

Perhaps the Tribunal had been aware of the hero and their having met all of the initial signs, both lost and known, of being the Nerevarine. Vivec had his plan to defeat Dagoth Ur using the Nerevarine for some time before, as it's in game the whole time, with a copy not only in the palace, but also in the Secret Library in the Hall of Justice.

You could always claim that stuff should only have existed in the game after the player reaches that point, but I guess it is more fun to work this stuff in.

Of course it doesn't really explain why Helseth would try and have a random prisoner assassinated.

After seeing her, you'd have to assume they didn't want to bite the hand that fed them.

Maybe Helseth was annoyed that the emperor kept dropping off random registered prisoners in Morrowind?
