Destiny discussion #2

I'm not sure what to make of destiny to be honest, is is an fps or an rpg?Is it even an mmorpg? You can tell Bungie are talented but what's the direction?

Is it just me that feels like Destiny is really similar to borderlands?

So what race did everyone end up choosing? Exo, Awaken, or Human

I played all three, but Awoken was my favorite.

I also played all three and ended up with an Exo Hunter. For the release I'll probably be a human hunter though.

People like to refer to it as a "shared world shooter" with RPG and MMO elements.

I think I read somewhere that the Hunter will eventually unlock some stealthy abilities. I will see if I can find it.

if the wiki is correct, the hunter can become the bladedancer subclass, and one of its special abilities is after a melee backstab, you become invisible for a few seconds. but i dont know how reliable the wiki is in term of info.

Yes, that's what it was, you become invisible for a bit. You were able to see that skill in the beta but you couldn't unlock it.

It's not just you. I've seen this reference many times already, and even I can see similarities. Though, frankly, it's going to be hard not to do comparisons of previous games because we tend to look at our experience and apply them to new games.

Some people can't seem to let this go. "It's a Borderlands rip-off!" or "It's just another Halo. It's all Bungie can do." I feel for these people who can't see the game for what it is instead of wasting time pretending any game of this design won't be compared.

I had a great time with the beta and I'm looking forward to Tuesday, when I pick up my copy.

If a game is designed well, I couldn't care less if it's similar to another game or not. Just want to play.

I've never played Borderlands but the impression I got was Halo meets Mass Effect. When you're on the planet, it's Halo, when you're in the tower, it's Mass Effect.

Well rats, the limited editions were sold out at my local Gamestop. Guy behind the counter said they "sold out fast". I hadn't anticipated they actually sell out.

Will just have to settle for a standard edition and justify as to why I didn't need the limited edition in the first place:

I NEVER WANTED THOSE LITTLE TRINKETS OR EXCLUSIVE EMBLEM AND SHIP ANYWAY.
