What does the "..." Next to everyone's name mean?

What are Crucible and Vanguard marks?

Is it possible to get a personal map of the tower instead of having to talk to that robot?

Sorry, there could be a few question incoming.

Unfortunately not. You can only play with people on the same platform as you.

The "..." means that the person is in the menu system and not looking at the game world. Crucible and Vangard marks are used to buy some high level gear once you reach the level cap (which seems to be 20). There is no map of the Tower in game other than the robot but there is one on the Destiny app. Once you get used to the layout of the tower you won't need a map though, it is not very big.

Is it worth keeping old equipment?

How do access pvp?

Does race affect anything, besides appearance?

No, I saw an article about it on Bungie's forums.
1- it's to open up the options like reporting the player or viewing their profile
2 - I don't do a lot of PVP so I can't give a good answer here
3- It would be a good idea, but it's probably best to know it by memory.

1- Yep, just hover over it, and hold either Square (PS4/PS3) or X (Xbox).
2- Go to orbit. It'll be like a map. The Crucible (PVP) is on the right. Tower at the top, moon on the left and earth at the bottom.

There's only one game mode for PVP right now which is pretty much domination. I'd prefer they have tdm.

No problem, I didn't even realize I had a PS3 code until I looked at my email.

Look really flipping cool in space. If you mean a new Sparrow then those are better armored and go faster.

Welp, I played the living crap out of the beta today. Got to the level cap with an Exo Warlock and I'm loving every bit of it. Going to try out the Hunter soon enough, but I have a feeling Warlock will end up as my favorite when the game releases.

Looks a lot like biotics from Mass Effect, and space magic is pretty rad.

Holy crap the Devil's Lair mission was intense, I felt like I had formed a real bond with my team by the end.

Never had dancing felt so satisfying.

Now you need to join a good clan. Destiny is the first game I have played where it feels like being in a clan actually adds to the experience. Even in Lord of the Rings Online it seemed like the guild was just another thing to do in the game.

Yeah, I had a pretty solid fireteam going for a few hours not that long ago. No one was talking, but the increase in understanding of playstyles was pretty rapid between us. I was the Hunter, there was also a Titan and a Warlock. The Titan would distract and I would punish. The Warlock just cleaned house with the little guys and helped finish off the stronger ones. I also wiped out small frys if there were no bigs. It is really easy to get headshots in PVE, not so much PVP though. The Sniping is kind of...crappy with a low impact Sniper. I need something with higher impact but haven't found it yet.

I am just plain horrible at sniping in any game. If I am relegated to a sniper rifle then you know something has gone seriously wrong. I prefer an auto rifle (I play as a Titan).

Managed to get a code and I have to say 15 mins in I'm impressed, it looks great, combat is smooth and the universe is intriguing so far.

A high Impact Scout rifle can be pretty beast. I was out sniping other snipers with one. Better be really good with those headshots though, or auto rifles will mess you up.

So far, auto rifles seem like the closest thing to a noob gun in terms of primary weapons and PVP.

I had to do that mission solo because the guys I was playing with just disappeared when we went into the darkness zones. Must have made a mistake on my end, no wonder that mission took forever.

I am quite fond of the revolvers. Pack quite the punch, and instant headshots I've come to pull off are devastating. I found me a capable scout rifle so I'll start using that.

A lot of patience.

The walker was the worst but after dying over and over, I learned his attack patterns and found a good cover spot he couldn't hit that I would peak out of every so often to shoot at his legs and repeated that process. Sometimes when my grenade cool down was finished I'd charge in there and do as much damage as I can until he opens up for his critical spot and then used glide to fly out of there.

The only real trouble I had for the last boss was ammo. Enemies didn't spawn as often so it was getting scarce.

Still, pretty stupid of me to make the mistake of doing it solo, as that mission ended up lasting more than an hour.

That is quite literally exactly what I said. I was praying for one of the Fallen guys to say blarg at least once too.

My stepson installed the beta on my XO last night, and I watched him play enough to get to the tower.

Have to say: it's impressive, enough I may just have to get a copy myself.

I'm not keen on the whole beta thing, so I'll just wait until everyone else fishes out the bugs in the game. Plus, I didn't like that "Beta" moniker on the screen the whole time the thing was on.
