List of Guardians:
So... I looked into this game and from what it sounds like... The game is fun to play but is very poor in a lot of areas and has so much potential to be good, possibly even get good via DLCs/patches...
So am curious... What are the general opinions of the Bethesda community on this game anyways? I like to get more info on it... Since so far I've only checked out reviews on it (mind you, reviews from people whom I considered as reasonable and intelligent individuals. Not IGN or crap like that... Or whatever it is that does reviews in a bad way).
I second this - Bungie have struck again. Easily the most accessible MMO I've ever played and one of the best shooters on the Xbox One (IMO) - well worth a buy
This is an excellent game that is very accessible.
You can pretty much do everything... but it will take you a long time to play to this level and even when you have there are changes happening to give you more stuff to do.
I'd say its good, very flawed, but a good game. Probably the best highlight of the game is the gunplay. Being developed by those who created the Halo series, its very entertaining. But besides that, eh. The story is vague and overall uninteresting, with writing that makes Fallout 3 seem like Shakespeare. The level design mainly consist of fighting off hordes of enemies while you wait for Peter Dinklage to open a door. And while this can actually be fun at times with how intense some situations can be, it can get pretty boring when just about every level in story mode is basically just that.
The thing that will probably keep you coming back to this game is the loot. Thing being, the loot system is based on RNG. Everything completely random. Doesn't matter whether you did good or bad, got a lot of headshots, revived most teammates, or if you stood there doing nothing. It's a slot machine. In my opinion at least, RNG is damn annoying. Sometimes you love it for the magnificent luck it brings, other times you hate it when it doesn't reward you a damn thing (this is even the case in something as large as raids, which I think is ridiculous). Speaking of which, that is probably the best thing about the game. Raids are tons of fun as they actually require a lot of teamwork and planning, and it offers the best rewards (when RNG feels like rewarding you anyway). Don't have much to say on PVP as I don't play it much these days.
Although it looks like I don't have many nice things to say about it, it really is a fun game. Even better when you have people to play with. This game lasted me a good two months, so it definitely did something right. I'd say try it out.
Not a lot I can disagree with here, a good summary I'd say.
One thing I would add is that you'll want to have a couple of mates to play with...there's no Matchmaking for the daily, weekly and Nightfall missions (although they may add this in the future) or for the raid (I hope they don't add it, it would be a waste of time I feel). If you can't find anyone to play with on your friends list or on here, then check out http://destinylfg.net/ and http://www.destinylfg.com/ for like-minded gamers who need some help.
This is kinda the part which struck me as odd for Bungie to do... The Halo series all have an amazing story in each one. (H1-H3 was a great story. Reach made me cry actually. ODST was great too). So to hear Bungie doing a story that just... svcks (simply put it). It just makes me wonder wth Bungie is thinking...
And I kinda am someone who is interested in the story as a primary thing. It's kinda why I played RuneScape (the only MMO I've played so far) for so much. I loved the story and lore of that game's world. It's why I gained the Quest Cape in it...
I've also heard they basically don't explain anything about the lore in the story or at least from what I've heard... So there are many places you can go to and you know nothing about them.
Actually >>> DESTINY <<< has a story. !!!
Just watch this video. The guy is amazing. He describes the whole story within 14 minutes. After you see that video, you will realize that Destiny has indeed a story, more or less...

ENJOY !!!
There isn't much to the story you play through in game but the story missions are just part of the picture. Strikes and the raids also have a peice of the story to tell but you have to look for it as it doesn't lay it out. For example theres the Fallen House of Winter and their story is over story missions and a strike. However as you progress through various missions, strikes, raids, collect Exotics, play PvP matches and find Dead Ghosts you'll unlock Grimoire Cards. These can accessed on Bungie.net and they go more in depth with the lore. Granted it's still pretty vague but Destinys story seems to be one big work in progress...progress that you'll unfortunately have to pay for.
I just rented Destiny PS3 version. I am eager to see the difference.
Some of Bungie's charm in writing still exist, as there is actually plenty of lore behind the universe in the grimoire cards that semperfiman mentioned. It's just that I really don't care to go on their website or their silly app to read it. The story in Destiny has never really intrigued me to the point of me being curious in wanting to know more. And thus, what I consider the flaw in shoving all of your actual storytelling in outside sources and not within the game itself.
I never said it didn't had a story. I know it has one... It just doesn't explain anything... It is just "because story" from what I've seen and heard.
That's another thing I've heard... What? I have to exit the game and go onto a website just to read the lore on these cards?...
Basically. It would have been nice if they had included codex pages on the pause menu similar to Mass Effect where you can see all of the game's lore right there in-game. Or have it work like books in TES, terminals in Fallout, and eBooks in Deus Ex, come across lore through exploring.
