Destroying the Dark Brotherhood, a let down :(

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 6:31 am

The only problem with this is that no matter what happens, the DB survives (at least Babette and a Listener along with the Night Mother). Titus Mede II dies by the blade of the Listener, and the Falkreath Sanctuary is wiped out. The Dawnstar Sanctuary is rebuilt, and the Brotherhood slowly rebuilds. This is what must happen for the DB story to continue. It is not decanonized by the "Destroy" option.

Anyone who kills off the DB is likely a Chaotic Good; a good guy, but a very... ruthless, good guy. Like the Vigilant. You can either be a good and honest person... or you'll drag them into the light. Dead, or alive. As far as you're concerned, the world is a better place with them either good, or dead.

I've only killed the DB once. I prefer to make them my [censored]es and have my own little (half dead, considering Astrid's [censored] up) army of amoral assassins.

I did an Imperial Chaotic Good; as I said, a really ruthless and no-nonsense type of Paladin. He wears Vigilant armor/robes, and will [censored] up anyone who won't let him save them.

He's sort of like a Crusades era--

nevermind

He's a Vigilant, without being a Vigilant.

Then again, evil pays big and good pays quick.

Yes it was underwhelming, but that feeling you get when you bump into the people that the Dark Brotherhood would have murdered, and know that you gave them another chance at life, it feels good.

Forgive me if I disagree that killing a sadistic child abuser makes one as evil as the Dark Brotherhood. Or even evil at all, given, as I said before, she abused orphans and wasn't going to stop until someone put her down. Heck, if this was Fallout, you'd probably gain karma from killing her.

Also, it's worth pointing out that wiping them out could be considered a Lawful Good decision, given you're working with the Penitus Oculatus.

They've already shown that they're not unwilling to destroy one of their own factions (the Mages Guild, specifically) without player intervention.

This would have made the game ten times better.

THAT would have been glorious. Only completed the quest line once for a completeness' sake. Getting the fences in every city is the only good thing about the Guild.

Oh, I take that back, another thing is telling random thieves that try to rob you that you're with the Guild, letting them walk off thinking you're a friend and then getting a backstab in. Sure you recognized me pal, but you should have recognized the DB get up sooner!

Unless you are playing a morally good character.

Like I said in a similar thread hitting children and other rough methods were absolutely normal and acceptable a few decades ago. So every parent should be given the death penalty for raising their children that way? I can guarantee you that a lot of people were raised that way and they are still perfectly normal.

You seem to have a hard time to see the difference between that and a person who kills or has six with children.

You're correct. I was raised that way. I received many spankings in my youth, and a few slaps to the face as well. Nobody gave it a second thought back then.

Grelod doesn't just hit children. It's strongly implied she beats them even when they don't do anything wrong, or simply when she's angry, and only lets them outside an hour a day. In addition, if you listen, it's pretty clear she's emotionally abusing them as well. Furthermore, she won't even let them be adopted.

Even factoring in values dissonance, there is nothing okay about that. Just look at the quotes on http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Grelod_the_Kind.

Gonna agree with this, not really sure how anyone equates the crap Grelod does with spankings

Nah I think those who refuse to kill her are sicker than the DB. After all they are leaving that woman alive to torture those kids. Have you seen the room with the wall shackles? Torture

Definitely, killing off that horror is no way in any form evil.
