Destruction and Graphics in earlier builds are better

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:09 am

I've seen many videos that show case features that were left out of the full game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2UCnblmOMY

Go to 1:50, there is actual procedural destruction of the tiles, rather than small bits of destruction in the final game.

At 1:17 the small trees can be cut down until in the full game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4wdYftp1rA

In this PS3 video at 1.23 you can see big trees being cut down, just like the palm trees in Crysis 1. In the full game, big trees are completely static yet in this hacked version the feature is there.

I've also seen things like tesselated ocean rendering that is also left out of the game. In this screenshot the caption says "Extreme Spec" even though in the full game you still have crappy console water.

Seems like we have a big DX11 patch upcoming if Crytek are serious with their, "making full use of DX11" comment. And even if they aren't we'll still get this since these are plain DX9 features.

And this:

Check at 0:47. That kind of level of destruction we were promised. What we really got was a finger up ours...

Their new moto should be:
CryEngine 3. Achieved a decade ago.

Uh what? Having one less road barrier to shoot isn't exactly a finger up yours. Quit complaining

Yeah some things have been cut out... it has been stated by Cevat that everything that didnt worked on the consoles was cut out of all versions. But hey... we benefit from this kind of "optimization" right? ;-)

@ JustinBiebers

Youve never played the predecessor didnt you?

Oh.. i forgot... youre the troll right ;-)

everything you are saying are not in the game are in the game, you can still shoot down some trees just like you could shoot down some trees in crysis 1, you can brake off bits off a lot of things as well :|

Just look at this videos guys

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZn7JuYZEaI&feature=fvwrel

everything destructable in earlier builds of Crysis 2, dynamic day-night change, better Ai behavior, etc - have you seen anything like this in retail release? I doubt it! So we was cheated by false advertising!

@ v00d00m4n

This wasnt a commercial for Crysis 2!
This movie was for praising the Cryengine 3!

Please you must differ between Crysis 2 actual quality and the whole capabillity of the Ce3.
In my opinion Crysis 2 on hardcoe uses not even 30 % of what the engine could do.
I think in the last 20 - 15 % it may have a chance to even surpass the Cryengine 2 on Pc.
But thats a thing of the future and still needs to be proven.

I agree with dafin0.
I can shoot down trees (like in the second video) and destroy objects (just like at 1:50 in the first one). No mods or hacks used.

Sequels don't svck. People just expect games to be exactly like the first just with slightly better graphics.

Yeah, we dont expect them to have worse graphics, physics, dx9 (while crysis 1 has dx10), terrible ai, svcky narrow singleplayer levels, no sandbox 3 editor or nothing, nanosuit 2.0 being worse then the first one...

That video CLEARLY states "Crysis 2. Achieved with CryEngine 3"

Regardless of what the CE3 is really capable of, Crysis 2 is a straight up 'F*ck you' from Crytek to PC gamers.

Not sure about that. I have Hawkeye's Lifesis installed over Crysis 1 as well as Rygel's texture pack (over 2 gigs of textures? YES PLEASE). Adding in on top of Extreme Quality Mod and Extreme Particles mod, and the game looks astronomically better than Crysis 2.

That said, Crysis 2 doesn't have mods, but CryTek won't allow them either, so I still believe this to be a fair comparison. Yes, modded Crysis 1 to vanilla Crysis 2. Sue me. At least Crysis 1 had DX10 and mod support.

The videos prove that the engine atleast is capable of more than is on the game. My theory is that Crytek deliberately cut the pc version, so the cheap @$$ tf2 playing amd toting low budget pc gamers can play the cut down version instead of screaming crysis 2 is unoptimized like they did for crysis 1.

After they shut their pie holes, Crytek can bring on their MAXIMUM GAME the Real PC gaming Master Race

What do you mean by this?
Can better Physics, Graphics, etc. be patched in?

Possibly. Mirror's Edge was shipped vanilla with no PhysX (only software PHYSICS, not the same as PhysX), but if you downloaded one of the patches, suddenly PhysX was enabled in-game.
