Destructoid Skyrim video interview @ Gamescom 2011

As usual, if already posted let me know and I will pass the buck to a mod :tops:

Sorry about the video's audio if anyone else is getting bad quality, it is from an official source so maybe Destrctoid had some audio issues

Idk if these were confirmed:

-Converting ore you mined into ingots. (I think it has been confirmed)

-Skinning animals for hides. (New to me)

-FO3-like lockpicking. (Think it was already confirmed)

-MQ that is 20-25 hours is "just a drop in the bucket". (I know its not new but I thought it was a interesting little statement)

Watching it now :)

-main quest 20-25 hours.
-turn ore into ingots.

Pete is looking stressed and irked with the same questions every interview...

The video just confirmed that lock picking is very similar to FO. Nice find :celebration:

Haven't seen it, about to. Thanks tgl. I wouldn't expect any new info though when it comes to sites like IGN, Destructoid, and Gamespot at conventions.

I hadn't heard of ingots until now. As for skinning I'm a bit lost. Is it a bit like RDR now where there's an animation, do you take the hide from the body from an Inventory screen as always, or is it that now if you take a hide from a body it automatically has some "skinned" or bald icon.

So is that about 3-4 separate sources that claim the ingot thing? I agree that it's as good as confirmed then.

Seems like everytime something new is confirmed, it merely creates another question that needs answering.

For cooking "we get a big list of all the recipes in the game and what the ingredients are for each one" - sounds like New Vegas cooking menu.

It seems unlikely that we will find cooking recipes, rather they will all be available from the beginning (unless we get a few new recipes unlocked from quest rewards, etc.)

yeah, didn't really use it much in NV......But then again I didn't really play the game for that long either. Of course they give the option to go to some shop and buy the stuff instead of cooking.

You missed out on some scrumptious Wasteland Omelets and Desert Salads, my friend.

In any case, perhaps the very dim, fading hope for some sort of survival/hardcoe mode just got the tiniest bit brighter, but it still seems quite unlikely.

Would be cool to find recipes as loot in dungeons or houses :turned:

With a high Survival skill, they were much more effective than stimpaks.

However, in Skyrim, cooking will not be associated with any skill, and we already start out with all the recipes, so it seems there will be no progression, no improvement over time, other than finding more rare or complex ingredients.

hardcoe mode and a Necromancers guild, that's all I want... ;)

Anyway, even if cooking is not that useful, I'm glad they are taking time to introduce details like this one in the world... relationships, cooking, mining, jobs, smithing... the more the merrier!

He says that all the recipes in the game will be visible.

Yes, and imagine what modders will be able to do with all these new game mechanics to play with.

perhaps the progression is based more on the dishes themselves than 18 skills.
maybe there could be a bar next to each recipe in the list, the more you cook that dish the more that dish is effective.
